Well I disagree with Mark who agrees with Gerry...(snicker). My earlier suggestion did have the stipulation that if we could pick 3 of the teammates the other three would counter balance the average scores of the first three...thus creating the same effect.

I would further propose that team member switching is allowed ONLY UNTIL THE 1/2 WAY POINT OF LEAGUE...no further

There that should stir the hornets nest pretty good...

switching? I don't see the benefits of allowing that..

My concern is that, as per usual, only the top 4 spots in the team challenge each week determine the winner. So if you cherry pick 3 outstanding scorers (e.g. Christophe, Wendy and John), you've pretty much guaranteed a win every week (unless they go up against me and my two other dummy accounts).

The only way picking a 3-some would work is if the average scores for each could be balanced between the teams, which would just be a lot of extra work for the organizers.

Switching has been done in the past by many teams (two times for me) we lost a member and replaced him. I just think it needs to be addressed and put into the official rules...

ohh, I see "replacements" but not flip-flopping teams during the challenges.

Yes, I guess it was a problem last year...easy enough to avoid and define...

I'd also like to add that it can't be 3 people of our choosing that we've been on TPL with before...that will further mix the mash. And avoid the "stacking"

That's why I loved having Ryan on my team... the sarcasm and wit was enjoyable but the biggest benefit was I didn't have the lowest scoring photos of the team ;-)

I will wait until this Sunday for people to sign in, On Monday I will generate the teams randomly and post them so you can start with naming teams, logo, etc.

Depending of the number of people the teams might be of 5 instead of 6 people. Anyone that wants to participate after this date will go to the list of replacements in case some members can't continue participating after the competition started.

The rules are as last season. Each week of competition will consist of the non special challenges (normally announced on Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Each member of a team will receive a score equal to the highest percentile finish of those challenges that he/she participated over the competition week.

The match has the same structure as before, each competing team member are compared in order of highest percentile to lowest. Each comparison is given a tie result if the different between percentiles is less that the percentile step for the challenge with less entries of the week. The results for the last two member of the teams are not considered in the final comparison. A wining member receives 3 points and a loser 0 points, in a tie both members receive 1.5 points. All points are added given the final score of each team. The team with more points wins the match and is awarded 3 points, tie gives 1.5 points for each team, loser receives 0 points.

If all members of the team participate an extra 0.5 points are awarded to the team (regardless of the match result)

Here is a sample of the results of a competition if it helps to understand the rules.

I think I have everyone in the list, please check that you are there (if you should) and that you are not (if you shouldn't).

Thanks,
Max

Let me see if I get this scoring straight...

1. Each week one team will compete against another team in their division (or possibly the other, I'm not clear on that - but it's team vs. team).

2. Each week team members are expected to participate in at least one of the challenges in order to obtain a "score" for the week".

3. In each challenge, participating team members receive a score that is based on where they finished with respect to the field in the challenge, with a first place being 100%. Actual score of all other positions depends both on their finish position and the number of participants (i.e. 2nd place in a 6 person field (83.33%) isn't as high as 6th place in a 50 person field (88%)). The member's score for the week is equal to the highest score across all challenges in which they participated.

4. "Batting Order" is determined by ranking team members by their weekly scores from high to low. Members scores are then compared head-to-head against the person in the same spot from the other team. The head-to-head match winner is the person with the higher score, and they get 3 points. However, when scores are from different challenges, if the lower score falls within the range of the winner's score and the next lowest score in the winner's challenge, the match is declared a tie and each person gets 1.5 points.

5. Only the top 4 matches are used to determine the team result. Winning team gets 3 points, ties result in 1.5 points per team.

6. If all team members participate in a challenge/all challenges/at least one challenge (????) then the team receives a 0.5 point bonus, regardless of match results.

Is that it?

Matches are determined by a schedule at the beginning of the competition

yes, if a member doesn't participate in any challenge will not contribute with any score and will automatically loose the head-to-head match (as long as the other person participated on a challenge).

Yes, with a small correction on percentiles though. Percentiles are calculated from the finishing positions according to: (Entries-Position)/(Entries-1)*100

Where, Entries is the total number of entries in the challenge, Position is the position of the image in consideration.

2nd place in a Challenge with 6 entries: 80%
2nd place in a Challenge with 5 entries: 97.96%

Take the challenge with the lowest number of entries, lets say X entries. in this challenge the percentile difference between consecutive entries is: 100/(X-1). Call this number Th= 100/(X-1). Regardless of which challenges the scores come from, if the scores of the head-to-head match are closer than Th then is declared a tie. If they are farther apart the larger score wins.

How many matches will be considered will depend on the size of the teams that will depend on the number of participants, so it might change. In the previous editions, each team had 6 members and, yes, only top 4 where considered.

Submitting to one challenge is enough, there is no need/enforcement of submitting to all challenges.

Not if I can help it, and that goes for whether I am on your team or not.

Wow this is really happening!

So, I see that the teams will be chosen randomly then? No campaigning and begging for teams to pick me?
