I totally get that, Richard! For my last Free Study entry, I thought it was one of my favorite photos ever, and my clients bought a big print of it... and when I posted it on Facebook, it got tons of glowing comments, but the voters here decidedly dismissed it as "bleh".... So for this challenge, I took a chance and entered one I thought might be too run-of-the-mill for this crowd, and its getting a great score. Who can figure... but I'd take the validation from the people PAYING for it, right?

Totally agree with you.. on my sites that I post my other photography its the same way kinda.. I have sold my eagle prints and a few of my landscaping prints... its nice to be noticed and appreciated that way and that is what I am going with..

I joined this site because I wanted to learn more technical aspects on photography to improve myself but with the voting, its a grain of salt and that is what I am looking at it as...in the end all that matters is that as long as my customers enjoy my work that I do as a hobby and as long as I do for fun, that is all that matters..here on this site.. meh... I am having more fun getting to know the people on this site.. great people!

If you feel a 6.023 score (that was your last FS score as far as I could tell) means your shot is "dismissed as bleh" then I tend to say that you have a sort of funny perception of scores.

For SandyP, a 6.0 is "bleh".

I'm not gonna lie, I get pissed when my scores plummet. I am very competitive by nature.

I'm with you, man. I mean, are these voters stupid, or what?

So true, Julie! But I will say... having been a member here for oh so many years, and having had more than my share of photos that tanked and got some pretty painful scores and comments, it has all helped me become the photographer I am, even in my portrait business. There is a sea of photographers where I live who buy a good camera and start taking money from people. But, for me, the process of having a photo I thought was good enough get torn to shreds has helped me to be ever so particular about the details, and to never settle for "almost good enough" if I can take a little more pains to make it better. I am crazy meticulous in my portrait work because my "perfectionist" bar is so high after getting "reality checks" here so many times :) I have had my heart broken a number of times, but I think it's made me better (I think) :) But you're right too... the people are the best part of DPchallenge :)

Thanks!!!

That is what I am learning from my wonderful critique comments I have ever gotten so far.. I love them! The people that take their time out to give me their aspect of what would have made a better photo makes it for me as well

It would be a dream right now to get a 6 lmao but right now I would be very happy with a 5

Since I only left one Wildlife comment so far, it kind of narrows it down. If that doesn't win the blue, the voters truly are stupid.

58 and a pretty decent score, and no comments.

We're leaving everyone speechless, I suppose.

Near the upper end of what I anticipated for this entry. Anything beyond this is gravy.

I'm sitting just above 6 at the moment if I finish above a 6 on a wildlife challenge I will be VERY happy.
DPC has some damn good wildlife photogs so to me anything over 6 would just be WILD.
