It stormed out here in Utah tonight and I took my camera out on the back deck to see if I could get any lightning pictures. OH MY GOSH there was so much lightning. It was awesome. Every couple seconds one would strike. I haven't seen anything like tonight. Then it poured, so I went back in. Here are two of the shots that I've had time to mess with.

Those are awesome Jubei. I've been unlucky this summer in finding the storm with which to do this. Only one had potential, and I was trying to get to a destination and was running late.

I've been doing it for what seems like forever, and I've never gotten shots like these.

Nice work.

Great shots! What was you camera setting on the two photos? ISO,A,S

My settings where at 200ISO, F-20, 30seconds. I think my second one was taken on F-12 at 15 seconds. There was a little noise for the long shutter speed, but the for some reason when I opened them up in photoshop it got rid of all the noise.

Both are OMG photos Jeremy. Don't you just wish there was a challenge related to lightning or storm when you took them? Congratulations!

Wow, these shots are unbelievable!!! Beautiful. I live in New Mexico, and I have seen lightning like this. We get HUGE storms down here. But I am way too scared to take pictures of lightning. I heard somewhere that the static is attracted to the camera or something so I don't go anywhere near my camera. Hope that doesn't make me sound like a moron. Anyways, great photos. You should be proud!

That doesn't look safe. I'd be getting the hell outta dodge. Great photo's, some of the best lightning I've seen.

Great shots! I had some successful lightning shots this summer also, but could not remove the noise from the shots (and mine were at 100 ISO and only 8 sec. exposure), any suggestions as to how you did it?

WOW, Georgeous! I also live in Salt Lake (West Jordan, actually) and saw the same light show. I'm glad I didn't post any pics, they would pale by comparison to yours. What really sets yours apart, IMO, is the way you included the ground and city lights. Because of where I live, the best I can do is point up to the sky and get a lightning shot. But yours, with the city in the image, helps "place" the lightning somewhere... It gives them meaning and significance. Love the shots, thanks for sharing!

awesome shots.....I love it when the lightning is so abundant, it makes it real easy to get some great shots, and a lot of them. I have only been scared once as the storm moved in REAL fast and strong, with strikes with in 1/2 a mile. I went and hid for safety then cam back out after it passed and got some more shots.
