Mine are simple.
1. You have to nail the subject of the competition while following the rules.
2. You must be at least equal or better technically than any other photo in the contest.
3. You have to reach inside of my soul and make me feel as a child when they first discover something that amazes them. The WOW factor.

Just wondering what factors others use to decide the score they vote. Thanks

Presumably those are your criteria for a 10? Because most of us fall somewhat short of 3, and all but one of us will fall short of 2. Regarding 1, incidentally, "following the rules" is not a voting criterion: if you suspect an image has broken the rules, please vote it as if it is legal and flag it for us to investigate whether a rule has been broken. Some of the most astonishing effects can be obtained legally.

You are right about 1. Should just be nailed the subject. 2 I find many do well. Yes many members shoot technically good photos. 3 well you can wow me and end up with an 7,8 or 9. 10 being reserved for who I feel should win. And sometimes I vote 10 on more than one due to I find them equally as good.

I vote anything I think will do well a 1, and anything I think will tank a 10.

I don't use criteria. I ask the lizard if he likes it. If he likes it, I give it a 10. If he doesn't like it, I ask the monkey. If he likes it, I give it a 7. If neither of them like it, then I ask the bureaucrat. If the bureaucrat likes it, I give it a 3. If he doesn't like it, I give it a 5.

How does the lizard show he likes it? The monkey and the bureaucrat I can figure out. The lizard...?
