OK GUYS! every week we have someone asking about ways to interpret the challenge... this is probably the easiest one yet, don't have ideas?! P.S. my favorite, and my most creative photo was taken for the song titles challenge, and it scored the lowest I'd ever gotten. I still love it, and I know how hard I worked on it... but I shot the challenge as I saw it... GO AGAINST THE FLOW FOR ONCE! This site will be a lot more fun to judge if no one talked about the challenge before hand, and everyone entered their interpretations of the pictures! TRY IT! Ok, thats my opinion for the day |

| I didn't read the directions, came up with what I thought was a great idea, and then read this thread. Back to the drawing board and save that great idea for another challenge.JG |

I want to do an ARNIT ripoff and throw the cat, the bowl of milk, and have it splash over my head with mountains in the background. If I could get a apple and a naked chick in there, I'd win for sure!

Hello Everyone;
I'm new to this site; and new to photography. I would like to enter this challenge; but I need a little help. I understand what a cliché is; but I have a couple of other problems. I have a Nikon 5700. When I take photos on the most basic setting, they are too big. They are nice to look at (detail wise), but they are more like 975Kb. How can I shrink the file size down? I took a cute cliché photo of one of my dogs last week (maybe two weeks ago), can I use this? I can't tell when this challenge was issued..or whatever dictates the starting date for the contest.
Sorry this is long, and babbly. I look forward to sharing with all of you, and learning more about photography.

Have a read through the challenge rules section.
You can only submit a picture taken the week that the challenge is issued. A new challenge is issued every week. So, the picture you took would not be a valid entry in this case.
The rules state size constraints for the images. There are a number of graphics packages you can use to resize the images. It is likely that you got one with the camera software. When you save the resized image, if it still too large you can reduce the image quality (i.e. increase the compression used when saving the image) to reduce the file size further. The compression is usually an option given when saving the image.

Thanks Jamie, Thanks Erin. I didn't realize Jamie already offered suggestions on shrinking files. I can't believe two people answered this quickly. Cool! Well, I'll try and take some cliche photos tomorrow,and I'll learn to shrink files with the software. Have a good one!

| If we are supposed to take a picture of a pet,person, or sunset then why not make that the challenge of the week? To me a cliche is an overused and trite saying so I guess I'll be hammered with my entry. |

Hay ciertos tipos de fotos que consigan entradas cada semana, sin importar cuáles es el desafío. Usted verá casi siempre una flor, un niño, el animal doméstico de los someones, o una bandera. Tiene a menudo un título de 20 o más palabras que intentan decir porqué esta ' flor ' (o lo que) resuelve el desafío de la tecnología (o lo que). Tiene también sido por lo menos un hilo de rosca por la semana ranting sobre cómo el enfermo alguien está de ver los animales domésticos, flor, cabrito, puesta del sol, cualesquiera fotos. Pienso este desafío seré grande puesto que la gente que como estos tiros tendrá un desafío ella satisface realmente, y la gente que se queja por estos tiros la aprenderá es lejos más dura entonces tomarla se parece creer:) ¿Esa ayuda lo explica?

If this will help out any, Brendan: The program I use to shrink the size of my images is Graphic Converter v4.0 on my mac. When you go to Save As, I check the "Save web ready". I find it works very well. |

I don't know about you guys, but I don't know why some people are going to use a saying of some sort. The description of the challenge very clearly asks for common photography subjects.
I don't think I'll vote down these famous sayings entries, but they better be really good if they're going to crack the top 50. To me, these famous sayings entries are just disregarding the challenge guidelines.

The two concepts are not mutually exclusive...I tried to combine both interpretations in my photo. |
