Hello-hello!

I've voted in a few handful of challenges now and have noticed that my 'votes cast' and 'vote avg.' stats are never updated...they are still at zippo...

{sniff}...am i not special enough to count?...

:\

help anyone?

Do you vote on more than 20% of the entries in each challenge. I'm not for sure but if you don't vote atleast on 20% of the pictures then your vote does not count and they may not reflect on votes cast.
Hope this helps.

yep, I'ma good dpchallenge citizen and vote to the end (100%)...
:)

and when all voting is done it shows me the tiered ranked layout of what photos got what vote so it does seem to register within the system...

Good news / Bad news:
1. Good news: THANK YOU FOR BEING A VOTER THAT LOOKS AND VOTES ON ALL PHOTES.
2. Bad news: I don't know the anwer to that. I think SC will have to check out that problem for you.
Sorry I could not help.

Still no help? :(

Are all my votes even counting...since it takes quite awhile to go through and vote for all of them should I bother to still vote?

To see if your votes are registering, go to the photo and see if one of the bars in the vote graph is red. If it is then your votes are counted but for some reason your profile page isn't being updated properly. It will only show your votes on there after the challenge is over though.

aha! thanks Konador! it appears the votes are counting...I just have a broken, misfit profile....anyone wanna trade profiles?...I'll throw in a stellar vintage 516KB memory card to sweeten the deal!

Your votes are being discarded by our vote filter. From the challenge rules: "Voting patterns are also automatically monitored. Users whose vote patterns suggest an intent to unfairly disrupt the system will have their votes ignored and may be suspended from site functions." Without giving away our logic for the vote filter, I can say that well over half of the nearly 1,800+ votes you've cast have been 1's. You need to adjust your voting method.

doh! thanks for the info. this is true. sooooooooo people who submit somewhat to severely awful photos are protected by the system? I'd say that about 50% of what I've seen in the challenges are deserving of 1's and the other 50% are deserving of the 5's and above.

I don't really see how purposefully giving poor photos higher marks would NOT suggest an intent to unfairly disrupt the system as much as giving them the lower marks they actually deserve...which in turn can help them re-examine their photographic motives/techniques if they appear to have received numerous 1's or lower scores.

anywho, modifications in voting habits w*^# occur.

You know, I think you're really gracious...A lot of people would have responded quite differently and the fact that you gave reasons for your voting patterns (which you obviously considered legitimate) and have still resolved to adapt says a lot about your character.

You get a shiny star.

Please note that shiny star has no cash value and may not be redeemed for votes or a canon 20d.

I can`t wait to see some of your pics.

Sure there are some really bad images now and again but I cant see where 600+ are deserving of a 1. Voting patterns vary between people but most give points for at least meeting the topic (when they do) and pointing the camera in the right direction and removing the lens cap (when they do). If the majority of DPC photos are considered a one then in general the quality of images here based on that standard are going to be disappointing.

Is there anyway we could get a stat in our profiles that let us know when votes have been filtered out?

I think this would be helpful when reviewing some of the comments left by certain individuals and how much weight should be applied to them.....and for myself to review and adapt....I know that there was a challenge that I only voted in the 20% range....I was only looking for top placer at that time....and didn’t get a chance to finish voting...so the scores I had at that time would have been higher and the stats didn't go through.

Anyone else like to see something like this?
