The results of the "Masters Free Study III" challenge have been recalculated, due to the disqualification of the former 3rd place image for using the same image in more than one challenge, and for a submission taken outside the challenge dates. Congrats to our new 3rd place finisher and our new honorable mentions!

Pity...and guess you're stuck with all the scutwork now like posting DQ announcements, eh? ;-)

Nah, I just wanted to learn HOW so they indulged me :-)

Not even a week and he's drunk with power. Honey and salmon scraps litter the SC lounge, Langdon's been suspended, and I have to post from a bunker while the rest of the SC are in hiding. Hide your cameras. The rest of the entries will be disqualified in short order...

I knew that it would go to his head!

The lounge must really stink -- I sent that salmon days ago!

Thanks, Bear_Music! It's great to see timely and decisive action on a clear cut DQ. Now the genuine, well deserved, ribbon winners can have their time on the front page.

In my world we call that "involuntary hibernation" :-)

I appreciate it, Richard, but this was gonna happen with me or without me :-) We have a bunch of active, involved SC now, and generally a tighter ship, so things will start running a little smoother I think. I'm a participant, not a ringleader :-)

Hey Bear or any other SC I have a quick question.
I understand there is a time limit of 48 hours from when the SC asks for validation and you submit it back to them.
BUT is there a time limit as to when the SC can ask for validation?
Just say a challenge ends on Feb. 1st can the SC wait until Feb. 7th to ask for a validaion?

I didn't want to start a new thread for this but I will if you want.

Thanks in advance.

The top 5 are automatically asked to submit their originals at rollover. As far as I know there's no "statute of limitations" on when SC can ask for validation on other images.

Some "older" SC might have a more informative answer, I'm just learning the ropes :-)

Technically no, but there is an informal two week limit. We don't expect people to have access to their originals forever and try to make validation requests timely. A suspected violation noticed months later is old news and we generally won't bother with it, however in cases of intentional cheating or systemic infractions we might still ask for an original on an older entry.

Thanks guys maybe you guys can push for a 2 week rule or something like that?

During the TPL I was asked to validated an image that came in 82nd place. 2 challenges came and went before I was asked to validated my image.
I had some trouble finding the original but in the end I found it and everthing worked out. The image stunk and the reason it was a deal at all was because of the TPL.
Seemed kind of silly to validated an 82nd place image.
Is it common that the SC asks for validations a week or more later?

It doesn't matter how well an image does...all images must adhere to the rules. If someone suspects a rule violation and reports it, we vote on whether it requires a validation request. If enough of us think it warrants validation, we request it.

Most reports suspecting an illegal edit or illegal original (e.g., date violation) occur during the challenge. But it could also come in during the week following the challenge. And some afterwards. Add to that our time to agree it needs a validation, etc., and you are potentially two weeks out (or longer if the report comes in later and we think it still warrants a look).
