I'd like to thank the people who commented on my Free Study entry
Since quite a few people questioned what it was and why a couple of things looked the way they did, I thought I'd follow up.
The object is called the Millenium Spire and it's located near St Louis, MO in the US of A. It's an 85 foot high stainless steel tower. I shot it sideways and cropped everything out except the tower itself to make it look a little more abstract. I wanted to get as much of the twists in as I could, but that meant I had a lot of white (blue sky) space in it also. That also meant I got some of the brown from the ground clutter in. In retrospect, I probably should have shot it closer and cropped more of the tower out. I know that now because of constructive comments.
So... thanks again... and happy shooting :)

Hi Iggy,
Though I didn't get to vote on your photo in Free Study (I was away much of the voting week), I like your subject and think it has a lot of potential. Some of the comments might be guite useful, in particular John's comment about a diagonal through the shot. I'd say have some fun reshooting this and play around with it a bit, including some non-standard crops (other than 4:3 or 3:2).
