BS with the tempted, Jan. Get your Orange ass to work immediately! If you're not in this, it'll create an awkward empty space in the gallery.

I'm swamped with work right now. It should slow down in a week so I will give it a try. Jan 13th is the start date. When is the deadline?

I had been meaning to try a photo essay for a while. Don's side challenge came along at the right time since I'm currently archiving or removing unwanted 2013 images. Anyway, once I got started the story went pretty quick. Don and Cory, thanks for the nudge. This format should lend itself nicely to many on here. I personally hope to try some more of these down the road.

Hmmmm. I've got lots of pictures, but do I have the mental discipline to pick some good ones and make something cohesive out of them....? I'll try.

I'm working on this. It's a longer term project that I was working on before Don announced the challenge and I won't be done by the deadline, but I should have something to show by then.

I'm elated that you have started this side challenge.
It is always fun to do a photo essay - sometimes they lead to strange and interesting places.
Thankfully, you have given us enough time to craft this essay slowly.

Shall we all submit our essays on the 13th for judging starting on the 14th? Or?

Gads. My photos are looking pretty good, but I need to learn to write.

I've been surfing the interwebs, looking for photo essays. Not having much luck. Anyone know any names oh photogs I can look up? Besides the war photogs, Dorothea Lange, W Eugene Smith, etc.

No, you don't. (… when you get there just click the 'play' button)

The 'essay' part doesn't necessarily demand text, not even captions sometimes. Some of the best photo essays are quite naked.

Some fine contemporary photo essayists among these people. I favour Paolo Pellegrin, Harry Gruyaert and Trent Parke.

I realize that a photo essay doesn't necessarily need text, but mine does.

Would you say these are one-photo essays?

Thanks for the links! I am looking forward to seeing thru your lens. I hope my little life can yield up something interesting in return.

If I had access to a dance studio, I think there would be a photo essay there.
