Thanks, Yak -- there was enough to look interesting, (and I don't have remask), so I did it. :)

I went ahead and bought the 5daydeal today because it looked really great. I especially wanted the Zack Arias video. I think it is a steal.

I already have Topaz Remask but I now have another registration code for it.

If anyone here does not have Topaz Remask and wants it, pm me and I would be happy to give my unused registration code to you for free. First come, first served.

If it is already gone, contact me. I also bought the deal, but also already have remask.

Once you complete the email address and code it asks which version you want in the next step.

That's not my concern -- I have old equipment/operating systems and don't want to get signed up on any more lists if I won't be able to use the software.

If I was marketing software I'd put the hardware, OS and memory requirements where people could see them right away, and not waste people's time getting them to sign up for something they can't use.

Has anyone been able to get a good download of this one? I keep getting a bad compressed file - tried a couple of times now. :-(

Worked for me, now to see how it works, my iMac is about 4 years old, but running Yosimite. Been thinking about one of the new 5k iMacs.

Thanks for that DxO. I had a shot I was considering for October Free Study, and had ruled it out earlier in the evening because of really bad Chromatic Aberration. DxO put it back in the running.

It's my raw converter of choice now, DxO. Had it for a few months.

Don't miss getting the 5 Day Deal!!!

This is an incredible value of tutorials, videos, textures, and Lightroom actions from top pros in photography such as Joel Grimes, Lindsay Adler, Zack Arias, Serge Ramelli, and many more. Plus it includes Topaz ReMask!

Valued at over $2000 and part of the proceeds going to charity, this deal costs only $89 and ends in 2 Days, 21 Hours, and 15 Minutes......and counting.

Don't miss it!

I know this is old news now, but I feel the need to vent! Never again will I make this kind of purchase. If you have access to decent internet service it's probably a great thing, but with DSL I don't see how I'm ever going to get this content downloaded. :-( The smaller files (under 600mb) have been ok, but the files at 1GB or more - forget it - keep timing out, or more frustrating is having the file say it's finished downloading (after several hours) only to find out it's incomplete or corrupt.

GAAAAAAAHHHHH!

Ok - back to your normal programming. I feel better now (sort of).

You could try an advanced download manager like GetRight or similar, it supports pause/resume and runs checks to make sure the file doesn't get corrupted. Also does threaded downloading which sometimes increases speed, but your internet connection is probably the bottleneck.

Hey ... THanks! I'll check that out. :-)

Looks like a good (Deal of the day) deal on the (now updated) orginal version of the Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro Tripod Legs (Black)

I have the carbon version of this and it is a nice tripod--very tall.

Deal says

List Price: $199.88
Deal of the Day: $109.99 Free Shipping for Prime Members

Only about 12 hours left!

I have that exact tripod. I have put it through the works from dropping it off a small cliff to stabbing the legs into the muck of Biscayne Bays in salt water. It's pretty beat up but nothing will kill it and WD40 easily gets the legs sliding smoothly again.

I am actually looking for a good, lightweight tripod to travel with. Especially before my trip to Patagonia this Friday that I just started a thread about.

I had a Manfrotto BeFree travel tripod up until Wednesday when I left it at a local photo group meetup...yet to be recovered, I liked the legs and size, but I did find the quick release fiddly.

Since I may have to replace it, I was considering one of the MeFoto Travel Tripods...they have an Arca Swiss head which would be a first for me, but works better with the new Panasonic FZ1000 (and all the Panny all-in-ones) which have the battery door blocked by most quick release plates, except for one smaller Arca Swiss plate. Also, Arca Swiss works better with some of the L brackets for cameras, and the Carryspeed adapter I have on my SLRs (which let me also use my Cotton Carrier vest adapter and a tripod at the same time.)

But one reservation about the Mefotos is the leg locks...I do like the clip-style locks on Manfrotto tripods.
