Another one yesterday. There was a protest yesterday over a shooting... These guys are super trigger happy it seems.

So, was it a cellphone or a gun? Any bets?

I don't think there's an app for that.

And now we have riots over this... Or more likely, peaceful demonstrations that were so unwanted as to be declared as 'violent riots'...

We seriously need to change the police culture in our country.

Take any crowd, no matter how peaceful, surround it with riot police, lob in some tear gas and you'll get a riot.

And another shooting today.

I'm sure APD is thrilled that it was a federal agent this time.

Sounds to me as though the citizens have had just about enough. (graphic, click with care, NSFW, etc)

The guy is apparently awake and talking tonight though, must have one hell of a hard head.

I feel a tad bit vindicated. :D

These fellows have been doing this for WAY too long - now we'll have to see if the rest of the state follows suit and cleans up their act.

Oh look! I found a New Mexico case where the cops actually did not show up and shoot someone...

Our police are digital... Which is to say binary - meaning they have two modes of operation:

1. Ignore it
2. Shoot it

Wouldn't that be:
0. Ignore it
1. Shoot it?

Well, two new articles today. One on CNN about the Albuquerque police, and the other about my local PD force.

Albuquerque Police Examined (total must watch!)

Farmington man's death ruled as homicide

Another one from the New Mexico files.

This one's really a dandy too! Sheriff and son pursued a man in their personal Jeep, pulled him out of his car and threatened him with a handgun, then assaulted him, and subsequently had him arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, despite not being in uniform, and not being assaulted.

Here in Michigan, the fuss is about the size of reserve police forces. Reserve officers don't really do much unless they get called up, but as reserve police officers, they can get a special carry permit that allows them to carry their pistol in places they normally couldn't like schools, theaters etc.

Oakley, MI has a population of 300 and has a reserve police force of 100…They're being investigated by the state

Barry County has 3300 people and a reserve force of 34 along with allegations of excessive force etc…so far, no one's been killed. Detroit Free Press article. and has even gotten attention in the Washington Post

Wow.

This sort of behavior is EXACTLY what I oppose. No respect for citizens any more, no respect for the law anymore, no respect even for themselves I fear.

Right on ... I too oppose this type of behaviour. Here is hoping that they arrested him, charged him with a variety of offences and that he now has an understanding that the officer was well within his right to request that he exit the vehicle.

I really do not have the time to conduct a thorough search on the matter, but I did find This

Maybe it's just me, but I do believe the man was a dick.

That's my reaction as well. The way it reads to me, the dude was driving home with a pizza when a cop flashed him to pull him over. Instead of pulling over, he chose to drive on home, and then BACK into his driveway, which of course the policeman had no way of knowing WAS his driveway. From the cop's POV, this vehicle is a loaded weapon pointed right at him/his cruiser, and he's predictably annoyed as hell. THEN the driver refuses to lower his window, refuses to exit the vehicle, all sorts of behavior "normal" citizens wouldn't even consider under the circumstances. The driver tells us he's been "beaten before" and now he's "understandably" reluctant to exit his vehicle. Then when he DOES exit the vehicle, it's to receive, according to him, the "predictable" beating...

I'm not impressed. The cop may have been heavy-handed, but sure as heck the DRIVER was provoking him all the way. Call it a draw...
