To keep things clean and clear, there should be a public listing, with time and date, of midseason team changes. I don't object to a replacement member being named to fill an unexpected vacancy. However, there needs to be a point in time for the change. For example: Week 4 is in voting; Week 5 has nearly completed the submission phase. Substitute members should not be able to go back before they became members and claim team participation with their image scores. I'm sort of aware of some team changes in progress, but have seen nothing officially listed. So, I assume there have been no changes, yet.

Sounds like a good idea to list such changes publicly.

Though I am sure the TPL organisers will ensure that any new members of a team can only use entries submitted after the time at which a member change is requested. I know this was certainly the case when we had a new member - when we requested this new member join our team she had a very high scoring entry which went on to ribbon. However we were obviously not able to take advantage of this as only entries by this member submitted after the team change were permitted. I hope this is the case with all other team member changes.

Correct.

Okay, for the teams listing seven members on their roster, whose score should be used for which portion of which week. I'm sure the organizers have this under control, but it's an opaque process to me.

I can only conclude that no TPL2 team changes/substitutions have taken effect as of this writing. It sort of makes sense to wait for the moment in between "weeks".

I agree with you, but I think we're already kinda doing it this way... In any case, it's my opinion that we've been a little bit too lenient with changes this season... Look for some new restrictions in TPL-3.

We recently had a replacement. Random selection based on waiting list of folks interested in joining TPL late.

Switch happened midway through a week, but he will only start submitting as a teammate at the start of the new week. Thus preventing an overlap of submissions from the outgoing and incoming member during the same week.

Well, I certainly took you at your word. The beginning of Week #6 would be the "start of the new week" according to the date of your post. Any entry by a teammate switch during Week #5 submissions would not count towards TPL2 results.

Teammate joined middle of week #4, and only started counting for team score week #5. All above board and vetted by those in charge.

It's been quite the controversy, Harvey. Quiet Riot has withdrawn from the finals to distance themselves from the whole messy affair.

Interesting. What challenges in Week#4 did ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' spiritualspatula enter? When did spiritualspatula register on the reserve list?

My team's consensus is to let this go. It's only a game. However, we are recommending that rules be overhauled as far as team replacements go. We recommend replacements be publicly announced, as in not held secret. And, we recommend that there be a waiting period (for mid-week recruits) to the beginning of the next week of play.

You can see from your own link that he asked to be and was added to the reserve list on October 31st.

And, assuming he was recruited promptly by the Digital Demons on that Thursday, then the beginning of the next week would be Week#6, which began on November 6.
But, I repeat, we are letting this go. There really are no established, written or understood, rules about when a recruit can begin to participate. Nothing is going to change in TPL2.

I'm sure the Digital Demons did nothing wrong. But, in general, in the future, there could be a situation where a weak team member is dumped and a stonger member is recruited, in order to increase scoring power.

Again you can see from your linked post that all substitutions were changed to reflect the new team they were assigned to. I understand that SS and maybe one other did not get reassigned on the forum but there was a lot of individuals dropping and I was just too busy to actually get it done. I can appreciate your desire to have everything displayed correctly for public viewing, but its obvious that even when it is available people still want to nitpick and complain. You are more than welcome to volunteer your services for the next TPL if you desire we can always use the help!!!
