Bored. Any of the newbies have a portfolio that they want reviewed or commented on?

Not really a newbie but would love some feedback!

Man, this post is funny. Sounds like a bunch of cheerleaders trying to get the attention of the star quarterback so that he'll pick them to bring to the homecoming ball.

But I do have to admit that it's sweet to receive comments on portfolio shots. Very sweet.

Sure, Wellando. If you're really that bored I would love some comments. I don't have a DPC porfolio but my website in my sig allows for commenting.

Thanks! And I'll try to get to yours this week to return the favor. :-)

Hi Faidio,

Thank you for the comments.....they were very helpful....I am going to do my "Neon" entry "Tiny Dancers" again as soon as I get my new macro lens. I asked my local shop to bring in the Nikon and Sigma 105mm F2.8 for me to compare shots with. I can't wait. The hardest part of that shot was the lighting. The rope lights I used are not bright enough on their own and when I added other lights it took away from the colours in the water. So I hope the faster shutter will help and being able to get closer will elimiant some of the cropping I had to do.

Thanks again for the comments
Scott

Thanks Faidio (and everyone else that commented) -- here is the photo with your cropping suggestions. I have to keep this an 8x10 crop as it is a gift. Is this what you had in mind?

I had cropped the original with the "rule of thirds" in mind. Most of the time I'm not really mindful of those silly rules but keep telling myself I need to be.

Thanks for the help -- Debi

Well, so far I have asked for comments twice in a thread, and recieved one comment, which was not very helpful to me... I have a small portfolio, on photobucket.com. There are a few pictures that the crop is messed up on, so if you would please not mention the white areas that would be greatly appreciated. I am still new to photography and I love coming to DP Challenge to be motivated. I love to see other people's work, and love to comment. Often I don't make suggestions to improve simply because I don't have the right kind of knowledge. I just tell people why I like something when I see it. Lighting, focus, subject whatever. I would like to recieve some feedback on at least a few of these shots. They aren't the greatest, but they are my favorites so far.

So anyway, I may have shot myself in the foot by posting yet another thread regarding my pictures. If you want check some out. I am working on looking at more people's portfolio's and sending more comments etc.

I like the interesting colours and shapes of the flower against the sky on this pic, not so keen on the border though. Would love to see some more pics of this at diff angles. Kitten is really cute.......try getting down onto ground level and getting in close, watch the background isn't cluttered though or the focus is not on the kitten. With landscapes, sky pics just watch that your horizon line is level (I have big problems with that!).....lovely colours in those pics. Your portfolio is a very good start.......just keep adding pics to it, and have fun taking them.
