I don't know if its just me or what, but I really think that there are some gorgeous photos in the framed challenge. I think it will be a close race. I don't think I have ever scored this high so r so many pictures! Wow!

You're right. There are LOTS of great images this challenge... Mine, of ocurse, while fantastic, is getting hammered. LOL

It's just weird. I think the photo I submitted to the Frame challenge will be my second or third highest so far. But I definately think it is the second or third worst I have sent to a challenge!

So my project from the day after tomorrow will be sending better higher voted photos just to get rid of that framing picture from my profile page!

I agree with Digital Grizzly. "Framed" was so difficult. The eighth or nineth time I went through the images, I was STILL finding photos for which I suddenly found myself thinking, "This photo, by itself, is a GREAT photo. It deserves more, rating wise. But, I've already done more 9s and 10s than I've ever done. Do I move its rating up anyway?"

I saw many fantastic ones in Framing as well. I expect there will be lots of high scoring photos competing closely this time around.

My entry was better suited for advanced editing rules unfortunately.. it suffered under Basic.

Live and Learn.

I still love it to death.

Yes! "Let God sort the dead!"... if you will.

If you think a photo is worthy of a higher vote, I say go for it. If everyone agrees they will place accordingly. If it really isn't up to par, then one of your other 9s or 10s might win it.

i was quite fond of my submission...it's better than my previous efforts (4.5, 4.9...i am new!), but its getting caned for graininess. any tips on how to reduce or fix graininess?

yeah,
change your ISO to 100 or 200

thats the best way.

Or use //www.neatimage.com - but not too excessively or you lose texture too!

On this site, it'll *always* get caned for graininess.. and quite frankly, I think that sometimes grain is good. The problem with digitals is that there is no true *grain*.. but noise.. which still works for certain shots, and I have to say, if *you* think it's a great shot with the grain, then keep it. Voting trends be damned.

However, if the score is that important, and you want to submit something cleaner, then check into NeatImage. (which people either love or hate, but which is generally used far too much.. I personally don't use it)

I'm assuming your question is rhetorical but since you asked the answer is, of course! If it deserves a 9 or 10 give it one. Just keep the challenge description in mind.

Just tossing this into a mildly relevant thread. After 6 days of steady increase, I've seen almost a 1 point drop in just a few hours. This common? It will still be my highest score to date, but probably out of top 10 range now.

at this time, I think the total no. of votes are past 300 and drop by 1 ? Thats really really odd !!

338 votes,

Went from 6.4 (never stablized beyond that) to 6.305 (circa) today, now steady at 6.325

Same drop here. It's no consolation but at least you aren't alone.

My bad... it felt like a 1.0 drop!!
09/07/2004 08:24:36 PM · #24
somehow I am at the same score after 343 votes as I was when I first looked up my score after only about 50 votes.
