It sure would be nice to get some acknowledgement that there is a problem with voting / uploading, etc... on DPC currently from Langdon or Council. Maybe even a status update? Yes?

Thanks.

I'm not SC or Langdon, but here's what I can do to help:

There is a problem with voting and uploading
The current status is "broken"
We anticipate having this fixed as soon as possible
(after tea, probably on Thursday, but we're not sure which week yet)

.. Have a nice day. :D

Thanks Cory! It's all so much clearer now. :-)

I didn't know you are involved with the technical side of DPC Cory.

LOL.. I'm not, I was just clowning around.

Of course, I may as well be, I certainly wouldn't be much worse at it. In all honesty, if I broke a client's system as often as someone has been busting DPC, not only would I be expected to not sleep or eat until it was fixed, I would be rightfully getting my balls put into a vise.

With that being said, I do appreciate DPC and Langdon - the professionalism just isn't as good as it could theoretically be.

I just found out a moment ago, and I see that some of my colleagues have already started to get the issue some attention with the site owner and tech persons.

It sure would be nice if people could read the existing thread on the subject instead of everyone starting their own ... it's a real pain to have to cruise around to several threads to post the same answer -- Langdon's been notified, no on else can "do" anything, we all (including SC) are having problems using site features or even loggin-in (I was unable to until early this morning, and then only with one browser).

Well, it's also a pain to look through various forum threads to actually see if there's a response from the responsible website personnel.

This site has the ability to post a fine looking, green enhanced, "site" announcement; appropriately titled. A message as simple as "Hey, sorry folks, something is screwed up. We know about it and are trying to correct the situation as fast as possible."

A forum thread like that would STILL work. Then close / hide these other related threads.

It's the same old story everywhere I've ever been. Maintenance techs will not communicate. They do what they do & they don't spend any of their time talking to customers. Ever. Why would this site be any different? Also management will never acknowedge a problem unless forced to do so by law or litigation. And when management & maintenance is the same person--forgetaboutit. No comment is what you're going to get.

There are no "maintenance techs" around here to communicate, just a few volunteers who try to help out as best we can.

I have been answering questions about this to the best of my ability (not too much unfortunately) in multiple places since before six this morning while at my "day job", so I rather resent the continual assertions that "no one communicates" with you.

We don't know any more than you do about what's causing the problem, nor do we have any ability to fix it -- I myself was not even able to connect to the site until early this morning.

We have communicated the problem as best we can to the person who CAN address the problem.

WTF else do you want?

Sadly I feel many of us forget that the sc are unpaid volunteers.

Well, some good news, in that I am now able to log in with Explorer, which has given the typical error up until now.

Please try to see if features are now working, and maybe use this thread to post continuing biugs.

I never forget this. And they deserve respect for what they do.

With that being said- it's not exactly a secret that the majority of the SC are not highly involved, and that despite multiple occasions where it has been suggested, no new SC nor any new support staff is planned, or will be added.

Essentially, what we have here is a situation where we have three or four SC who are really involved, but VERY much overworked and burning out, another half-dozen that are involved semi-regularly, and a few more who are now treating this as a sinecure.

Langdon needs to appoint some more active folks to the Site Council, but for whatever reason, refuses to do so. Even obvious choices like Robert have been ignored for ages now.

Nope -- still can't vote, and still can't compose a new PM. :(

I can vote from my MAK at home.

All my features are working (as of right now).

Any idea on if the "closed" challenge will still rollover this evening? Or will it be extended?
Hoping it rolls over, simply because I'm an impatient person. Lol

Sorry about that. I wasn't aware of the issues until earlier today (~12PM EST), and wasn't able to fix them until this evening (8PM EST).

Please reply if you're still experiencing problems.

It's looking pretty good to me now -- thanks! Is this closed challenge still starting tonight or having an extra day?

What? I mean really, what just happened?

Sorting out issues with a new server we're on. Sessions were getting corrupted.

Yet more support for my overall hatred of "upgrades" ... :-(
