So I'm posting again. These are my outtakes from the "Free Study" challenge. In addition to the ones I didn't use, I corrected the brightness on my actual entry "Higher Calling". I'm wondering whether the lighter, and therefor more detailed left side now warrants inclusion, or whether it should still be axed out.

Comments on any of the other photos are welcome, too. Just don't tell me that you would have scored any of them higher! ;)

welcher, yes, i like the shot better now. i would crop just a smidgen of the top so that the dark bow isn't visible on the right. in fact, i'm not to thrilled with it to the left, but i know you need to keep it to keep the beautiful ceiling paintings in the shot. i was trying to look at the ironwork detail, too, but unfortunately, they took too long to load (i bet everyone's out there checking out your photos right now).

My favorite is Study of iron work. I love the contrasting of the cool, bluish iron and the hot oranges, and the way those two complimentaries play off each other. I'd like the framing better if there weren't the space on the right side. I'd also like to see the lights themselves toned down just slightly, though I'm not sure if that's possible without spot editing. Doesn't really matter, since it's not a dpchallenge submission :)

I also like Statue of St. Mary and Inside of Alter Peter. Very nice site, btw... very clean, good interface.

I agree 100%. Unfortunately, you just ran smack-dab into the outer abilities of my little S40. I just couldn't get the apeture open wide enough at that focal length to blur the background. The most glaring limitation (almost a design flaw, IMO) of the S40.
