Post your edits in the next thread starting this weekend. If you have an original to donate before then, that is definitely encouraged. Bear's crew does a great job selecting the top 10 to be used.
I believe there is a RAW dropbox going on, but I don't have the details, yet. |

Here's mine. It's also uploaded to dropbox, but I failed to rename it beforehand and can't figure out how to now (it's 20110722-_SMS5052.NEF).

I just tried uploading a RAW file and I got this message:
Error Service Unavailable: Back-end server is at capacity
I'll try again later...or if my photo is picked I guess i could just email it to those who want to work with a RAW file? |

| For those of you uploading RAW files, you definitely need to post a copy to your workshop, then to this thread for selection purposes. I believe the selection committee is only choosing from the photos in the original post. |

maybe this is a stupid question, but thought i would ask anyways...
my workflow is RAW-centric from camera, but since i use the Nik plugins in standalone mode, i convert to TIFF for that pp, then back to RAW before converting to JPEG for DPC submission.
and it totally understand RAW-centric for highest quality photos for printing/commercial use.
however, for this side challenge, what benefit is there to using RAW over using a pretty large JPEG (say 4000 x 4000 pixels), considering the final edits posts will be limited to 800 pixels longest dimension anyways?
in other words, is all the fusing over RAW worth it for this side challenge?

I was also curious about this, but as long as it's not messing with the challenge itself, I figured they could fuss all they wanted. ;) |

Sure, if you have an image where the dynamic range is in excess of the normal limits of a jpeg file, or if the white balance of the original shot is off, or any one of a half-dozen imaginable reasons.
There's no reason it's needed in many cases though, and shouldn't really be a huge component of the selection process IMO. |
