Just a general annoucement to remind members, and especially new members who may be a bit unfamiliar with the rules and their application, THAT Selective Desaturation is permitted in a basic editing challenge provided that no selection tools are used.

What this means is that if you desaturation all channels but blue for your shot and it shows the blue eyes of your model in colour and everything else is bw, that is a valid entry.

HOWEVER should you mask his eyes so that the blue chair he is sitting on and the blue hat he's wearing are desaturated, but his eyes remain coloured, or some other method of only desaturating some of the blues (or any colour) but not others, that is not permissible under basic editing.

For ease, here is a link to Konador's selective desaturation tutorial, which will show you how to desaturate and still stay on the right side of the basic editing rules: //www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=25

I hope this is easy to understand and happy shooting all!

Just a reminder to everyone about the use of selective desaturation in basic editing!

Too bad the two people who started threads about this topic in the last 24 hours didn't see this first.

Can I add a reminder that people use the forum Search feature or peruse the list of recently active threads before starting a new thread on what might be a common question.
