Looking for recommendation for a decent waterproof P & S camera to take snorkeling and rafting. I was looking at a Nikon Coolpix AW110 as a possibility. What ones do you all recommend?

Thanks in advance
Becky

DPReview.com did a comparison of these a while ago -- you might check and see if they've done an update (I don't think these models change so frequently as "regular" cameras). At the time I thought the Canon D10 looked like the best compromise ...

Unless you are planning on doing deep water exploration a waterproof camera case like this works well. I have one for my P&S and used it at the beach, worked great and is relatively cheaper.

We have a Sony Cybershot DSC-TX10. It does pretty well - we've tested it and it is waterproof.

My wife and I had the predecessor to the Olympus Tough series and it was very well for us, took it into the pool numerous times, it also survived being dropped onto pavement numerous times. Word of warning on most of the P&S waterproof cameras, they've generally got a time limit that they're good for. The Olympus we had was only rated for about an hour before we had to take it out and let it dry off again. I think most of them are the same from that perspective.

Check out the panasonic TS4 or TS5. Both have been well regarded as very sturdy travel cameras, and I've found the exposure on my lx5 to be very good. They also offer manual exposure, which isn't something you find in many, plus GPS and all sorts of other features.
I've used a few of the Olympus Tough models and they aren't bad, but their menus/buttons were pretty obnoxious for me. They also seemed generally a bit soft and had some slight color peculiarities, but there didn't used to be nearly so many waterproof options. They are indeed very rugged and well built though- my old 770 is still kicking after literally living in a backpack and being smashed, crushed, soaked, you name it. I also got a newer one for a friend and it's survived her general clutziness including losing it in a swollen river (I retrieved it) and dropping it on damn near every concrete surface around.

I'm pretty happy with a Fuji XP10. It's been with me everywhere I go for about two years now and so far, no glitches.
Maybe this will help, or you can search "Waterproof Camera Reviews" and find more.

Yup. A bit old, but it shows the older TS3 as a standout as well. It's funny- both of their top choices aren't necessarily discussed as much as other options like the Olympus or the Canon.

GOPRO Hero 3. I whitewater Kayak and it produces both stills and video better than any of the water proof point shoots I have collected over the years. Trick we found was rainex the waterproof housing so no water spots. You can get some very good shot with one. Only downside fixed focal length.
