The rules for expert editing say:

You may not:

add text or any legible characters to your entry or its border during editing. This includes copyright statements.

Yet I see a few in the challenge that have text added. I did request validation on them while in voting but they're still there. SC can you explain this?

Sometimes they have extra rules attached, like the Shez Tribute allowed text ('Allowing two weeks for submissions. You may add text or any legible characters to your entry or its border during editing') and the Holiday Cards 2012 Challenge ('You may add text/clipart to your entry'). Are those the ones you mean?

uhhh the meme challenge had text entries, but did not have an extra rules flag.

They probably didn't add it during editing, but photographed it in. If you take a look at and read the comments, he did it by hand and it was validated. I did mine in editing and it was DQd.

I took a photo of the text in my entry, at least. And yes, it was validated, and apparently didn't get disqualified. :)

text is allowed in expert provided you dont add text during editing, taking a picture or text is legal.

also why internet meme did not allow text was just baffling in the first place.

the voters also apparently missed the concept of what an internet meme is and, as usual, voted on he prettiest images.

If that was the case, I clearly should've won! :)
