Greetings to the Critique Club :)

The landscape and humor photos are queued and ready to select for CC comments. We have also added a "Critique Club" option under the COMMUNITY menu to take you directly to the selection page.

Participation:

Does the Critique Club think that there should be a minimum level of participation to maintain membership? I believe that since the CC members are practically guaranteed this extra critique on their own photo, that they should at least average two critiques per week... anyone have a comment on that?

That's why i said *average*. I am mostly concerned with trying to get all requests filled. We have 40+ members in this group, so 5 per week would fill the bill :)

We are almost half way through the critique week and we have less than half of the requested images critiqued. We have a few more this week than we did last week also. Out of the 211 requests, we have 70 images allocated and 61 completed critiques so far :)

I have completed one and have one waiting. I, too, will be able to do more as the week goes on.

I have a question. I just got assigned one of the photos that I commented on during the challenge. And while I am no master of critiquing I left what I think was a good comment on things that I liked and things that could improved. I'd like to critique another photo if possible, one that I haven't commented on. Is it possible to code out photos that we commented on or have the option to do that? I'm not really sure there is anything else to add to my orginal comment. Sorry if I'm being difficult.

Man, Jimmy4n you are being difficult :- ) You could just send me a private message with the number of the photo and I will be happy to critique it for you.

Jimmy, I unassigned your photo so you can select another one....

I think that a 'suggestion' that everyone do at least 2 or 3 a week is a good idea. I wouldn't make it a rule since sometimes folks have weeks where for one reason or another, they need to attend to other things. In general, when I'm at a computer with a decent monitor and an internet connection, I plan to try to do 1 or 2 a night... But I like as few 'rules' as we can get away with here.

Anarchy Rules! Ummm, well, actually it doesn't when you think about it :)

No minimum. we need all the help we can get. One good critique is better than none.

Ps. Just wondering. Are there always a lot of new members and first time submiiters? Seems like I'm working on a lot of shots from people with one or two entries, few or no votes cast, few or no comments made. Or maybe it just seems like that? Maybe I have a balance of oldies and newbies?

Please don't make us critique the signs!!! I just finished voting and if I see another sign I'll screem. I'll do extra this week to make up for next. OK...There were a few good signs and I'm interested in seeing how others voted on this one. Maybe if I just vote on Got Milk???

I don't have any way of controlling that. The photos are mixed randomly in the queue...

Just for that, you must critique them all! By yourself! haha, torture.

Oh wait, a lightbulb just went on...CC members get their critiques first, right? SO that explains why I'mm getting a string of newbies mid week, Duh. I'm just a little slow.

If everyone could do about one more critique this week, we would come close to getting them all completed :)

If you have one selected to critique, please finish it if possible...

I'll remove the request from mine. It stinks anyway...all outta focus and not really on topic either......but if ya already done it, send it on thru.

Did the stranger in a strange land challenge ever make it to the list?

I'm starting to think the critique club review request should be off by default. I wonder how many never notice that it is on, and never bother to check back to see the reviews we so lovingly write.

I don't think it is 'on' by default. YOu have to check that box when you submit your photograph to activate it.

I just submitted a photo and the check box was ON by default.
01/26/2003 10:43:33 PM · #25
I'll have to ask about that. I had to check it the last few times i submitted...
