I dont know if anything like this has been done before or if there would even be any interest, but I think it would be a neat idea to try and describe where you live with pictures. Im not talking about just one part of your city like the main street or downtown area but the outlying areas as well. It would be kind of like creating a vacation brochure without words. Show the good, the bad, and the ugly :)Give the viewer a real feeling of your state, country, city, village or where ever it is you may live.

I know it would be hard to do with 10 pictures or less but I think it would make people think more about what they would show versus going on a snapping frenzy and taking a picture of everything possible.

So let me know what you think!!!

I like this idea but could we do a month long side challenge and have it be limited to 1 photo a day, or maybe 1 photo every 2 days just for those who like to keep to a schedule.

Absolutely!! I dont think any of us have enough time to do this in one day. Plus it could allow for any upcoming outdoor or indoor events that are traditional to your area. We could make them due by Sunday each week and allow a max of three pictures to give us a total of 12 for the month?

4x3 is 12 isn't it :)

I can imagine some very creative responses to this. I think I would prefer fewer photos in sum, so the viewer can more easily grasp a sense of the sorrow and the pity glory and humanity of the photographer's habitat; as well this would encourage concentration in the creator.

This sounds kind of interesting. Are we limited to new pictures or can we use some existing photo's as well? I would try this because I have wanted to take shots of my town for a while...

I guess as long as its your image and you think it fits the bill there shouldn't be any reason why you cant use it.

I really like this idea. I think that the 4x3 is a good manageable number, both from a shooting and a viewing/appreciating aspect.

Yes!, and anyway you want to do it.

A little bump for the weekend folks to see if we can get anymore participants. I think we can start posting next weekend.

I live in this dreary little town way out on the left west coast of the USA.
Still, I'll try to find 12 somethings interesting enough to post in the next month.
Dunno what. but I'm in.
:(

Ah but see that's the point. This is an exercise to make you see it differently as though it were the first time again. It should force you look at in your "little town" in a different light.
