Okay, since my husband could not be convinced that I truly needed a new $1,000+ camera right now, I went to the camera store and laid down a few bucks for my camera. Only one problem, though I have a general idea what they do, I must now confess ignorance and say I really don't have a clue how to use them to their fullest potential.

Help.

I got:

UV Filter
Polarizing Filter
F-D Filter

Any suggestions or possible explanations. I will be going to photographytips.com in a few minutes (gotta vote some. *grin*)

I don't know what an FD filter is, but the purpose of the polarizer is to reduce glares and increase color saturations in bright outdoor lighting situations, just like sunglasses for your camera.

The UV filter, sometimes referred to as a Skylight 1A filter, can help increase color saturation in bright outdoor lighting without adding the darkness that a polarizer provides. Lots of people use the 1A filter for simple lens protection and leave it on all the time.
