I've had both for a few months and never installed lighroom.
No reason why I just chose Elements 11 to install first and didn't want to learn both at the same time.
Now I'm wondering if it's worth installing lightroom.

Just wanted to let you know, I started with PSE9. Then I got a copy of lightroom. I haven't touched PSE9 in about 6-8 months and my pictures look a lot better.

I seem to have lost the ribbon of controls right below the photo in develop mode where you would tell it "Done" to close the selective editing.

Anyone have this? How do you get it back?

I'm really loving this new version...cloning/healing tool is outstanding....super easy to use. And the Raw editing is smoother too. I like the added controls for White/Black/Highlights/Shadows...marked improvement IMO

finally upgraded to Lr5, not bad at all.

What an improvement over the spot editing tool! I like the upright filter too. Definitely going to upgrade now.

For me the biggest convenience would be the 1:1 previews being quicker. I can get used to that.

What's the performance on LR5? It's been a suck hole for me from the start and gets worse each upgrade, so I'm loath to jump right away (plus some of the known defects look REAL bad).....

I eventually found it...they call it the toolbar. If you turn it off, you don't get the "Done" and some other controls like the spray can. Why it's mapped to "T" without control, I'll never know. Too easy to accidentally toggle off. It's at the top of the "View" menu, and I (1) didn't know that was the toolbar, and (2) was looking for something near all the other window controls, on the window menu!

I find it pretty slow, but no slower than LR4, and it's still better than all the alternatives I've looked at out there (and I very recently, before upgrading, reevaluated PhotoNinja and Capture One v7.

my slowest time in LR has always been when then 1:1 are being made. Its quickened up a bit. Any time you use the tools heavy, it will slow down - other than that its on par or quicker compared with lr4 i think. I am considering a big reinstall for the os though so i might have to part ways with it for a few hours...

Lots of bugs unfortunately, even in 5.2.

I told it to delete my 1:1 previews, since the folder was up to 30GB and lightroom couldn't even do a optimize on my SSD. After the delete, still 30GB. Repeated several times, LR goes to work and does nothing.

Finally, I just manually deleted the whole folder. Can anyone else confirm this as a bug? Then I will report it.

I haven't done the purge attempt, but I have seen that complaint elsewhere.
