Night Sky II, using the Advanced Editing rules.

Description
Use the moon, stars or planets to create a photo that's out of this world! The visual impact of your image should be heavily dependent on your depiction of the night sky.

Night Sky Early Summer 2008.

I absolutely love this idea... But I have just one question. Could we do star trails with a bunch of 30 second exposures under advanced editing??? Or does that constitute something in the frame moving or changing. I don't want to see this challenge as expert, but could there perhaps be an extra rule that would allow for this. Sorry for any typos, I'm on my cell phone...

Unfortunately, the Advanced editing rule set does not allow for this.
And I completely agree that this should be a yellow flag rule for this challenge.

Yup. Star trails were ruled as time lapse and changing scene.

But, I'm still up for this challenge :)

If we are going to have this challenge I really hope it will be in one-two weeks when there's no full moon in the sky - it would give much more possibilities (full moon is 27th March)

This would be the perfect time to have this challenge - no moon in the sky :)

I like night anything. Good idea for a redo on the "Night Sky" challenge.

Bump, for the night people.

I couldn't agree with myself more... I would love to see this challenge picked because I need some motivation to get out and shoot some star trails...

I like the "Night Sky " theme but leave it at that, let it include everything in the night sky not just stars and planets.

I agree, it'd be a shame to limit this too far. It's nicely specific, but not limiting. Unless, that is, we want to get crazy specific which is also quite fun, something like Night Sky with Star Trails in Black and White.

Hahn's suggestion was taken! :)

Wonder if he'll go for it and enter? After all, he did suggest it!

..

Kinda funny how it ended up basic though - a bit reminiscent of a suggestion I made in jest.

Hahn who?

This weekend is the new moon so now we just have to hope for little to no cloud cover.

Basic editing?!? Blech. A waste of a fun challenge.

Really? Ach. I didn't spot that. Phooey, I agree, what a waste.

This is really aggravating... Like trying to shoot an internet Meme without text... Is it really that difficult to actually READ the suggestion in it's entirety, not just the thread title???

I thought maybe I could get something for this since I'll be in the Poconos this weekend. Not sure with the basic editing though.

Basic?! Oh my God... :/

Night sky in June? Ouch. We're not quite far enough north for midnight sun, but almost... so it never gets dark. Think I'll have to sit this one out. :)

yep, me too! No darkness, so the night sky would be not very evident.

oh, but of course we get a tropical depression/storm/hurricane that is going to "park" over our state for the next several days...yea!!!

I look at it differently -- you have the opportunity to present a rather unique photo of the night sky! I suggest that you somehow reference your latitude so that the voters will have a clue ... something like "Night in the land of the midnight sun" (don't use the quote marks!) is probably trite but something along that line should work.

Paul, is there *any* chance to get this changed to Advanced? Basic is just ridiculous for this challenge.

You can try submitting an Administrative Ticket Langdon's the only one who could do anything about it. However, changing it now might be somewhat unfair to those who've already submitted.

Of course, Basic is still pretty flexible -- it allows creation of masterworks like this ... Copyrighted_Image_Reuse_Prohibited_173599.jpg
