This is the most disappointing score I have had in a very long time. I got too attached to my entry knowing it was going to do great only to wake up to barely over a 5 :( That hurts.

Lol I had to look up where you are from to find out who has such excellent sayings and I was surprised to see you are from the UK. I feel hard done by never hearing this one before.

My pathetic 5.1x is looking pretty good after reading all this.

Can we get back to voting on Best of and FS? I haven't had a vote in either today and I like them both a lot more (not doing that great, but better than Wind)

Yes. Apparently fans and wind machines don't count. ;) Actually my entry for Wind II was me with a blow dryer. No such objections or DNMCs there, maybe because they could see what made the wind. Hah. It was actually a pretty terrible picture and my score is lower than that now... I can never predict. Really can't.

This is DPC...

not even getting 4.5 and I get a request for validation...rough

Glancing through these threads during voting, made me think that we shall give a mark to the entire pool of images in a challenge.
It seems that some challenges produce a much larger number of good, imaginative images then others.

It seems that people do not vote on all images so their average mark given is not conclusive. Or people who don't vote when they participate. Or who mark lower if they participate and higher if they don't....
I just thought of a mark for how all people interpreted a challenge.

I have recently gone "Venser" on voting and my voting average per challenge is much lower. But it was not because of DNMCs (I don't care about these) but the tiredness with the constant repetition of the ideas without much flair. This challenge just scored 4.35 from me. I guess I should take a break from voting and have a holiday! ;)

Don't. There's no reason why you shouldn't vote along those lines you outlined above. If you don't like a style, kill it. Repetition, kill it. No flair, kill it. How else are the photographers going to know you don't like what they enter?

There must be something wrong though, because my average just inches, ever so slightly, above yours for this challenge. I must be getting soft.

There is possibly a philosophical difference between me and you two. When I vote in a challenge, I measure the images only against the other images in that specific challenge. Have I seen in my lifetime higher quality images somewhere? Yes! But, those images are not relevant to the current challenge. I haven't finished voting, nor commenting, yet. But, I found plenty of excellent images to reward with high scores. And, the rest I've arrayed into a normal distribution of votes. I don't think I've given lower than a "4", which is close to your average vote cast. To be clear, I think you two prominent citizens are rating the images in this challenge against the universe. It would be more constructive if you looked for the redeeming virtues in each and every image in this particular set.

You have rated 72 of 72 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 3 images (4%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.7083.

I will run through the images on a second pass and comment on each one. I see one has disappeared due to DQ. I did comment on that one before it vanished.

I've voted 5.5 average not one 5 given I was high or low, some nice shots that just don't convey wind enough

Fine it might have been windy when you shot it but I wasn't there I don't know that

I think I know and commented on your shot Alex fine if you don't find it helpful but maybe you should, it's not my job to perceive the invisible it's your job to show it to me. There's 2 stand out 10s for me

and I spent 2 hours in 60mph gusts with a 1dx shooting 12fps trying to capture the wind

Looks like I did ok 6.6 3 comments 2 of which I don't agree with as they've clearly not thought about their comment before posting it

No Giles, you didn't comment on mine :)

I had one comment and this morning that got disappeared! though the comment was saying "DNMC!"

I shot with this challenge in mind over a period of three days - almost no perceptible wind on any of them. I got a breeze. My score is reflecting it. 5.3 and no comments.

Overall, it was an interesting challenge to vote on. Some images were stretching the limits, I could find no evidence of wind. If there was, it was all but imperceptible. Never DNMC'd any challenges, and tried to play nice. Average vote: 5.8.
