I always did have a problem with that. :)

I thought your resolution was you weren't going to follow scores so closely?

About as expected, but not as high as hoped. Didn't think it would go over too well with this bunch.

Sitting at 5.5 at the moment.
There are alot of shots I really enjoyed looking at.
I left almost 20 comments & I'll probably add a few more.
Some real nice stuff in this challenge.

I think I might go bump up everyone's score. You know, just a small way of fighting this trend of meh-to-low votes lately. I can't believe the hundred or so people who generally vote (over the ENTIRE world!) are so bloody jaded. *People* *always* say that they don't low/troll vote yet there is still this meh scoring mentality. Whatever happened to the days when 6.*** was average? Surely the calibre of photography on this site is, in general, worth at least a 6? Aren't images on here vastly superior to Facebook? I know it's a scale of 1-10, don't start on that again, but IMHO there is so much fabulous stuff on this site that we need to encourage involvement (not falsely praise). Participation down? Get hammered week after week and try to keep up the motivation to conceive of, shoot and process fabulous stuff 3 times a week...

Yeah...seeing that both images entered this year are getting slammed around in the high 4a and low fives like they're crapdelic facebook arm's-length cellphone shots, I'm definitely starting to wonder why I'm still here.

Yeah, I feel like I just wasted 25.00 . I need to find a way to not care about the score.

It was and is. I am no longer tracking them in my spreadsheet or keeping record of them. But if my old brain can remember the previous votes/score after a precipitous drop, I never said I wouldn't figured it out...

can someone send me the spreadsheet to control votes please?

Who cares what the average was? It's a challenge and the only thing which matters is how you rank amongst the other entries. It's always been that way. Nothing has changed in this regard. That number is meaningless outside the context of the challenge.

Entirely subjective. The longer I hang around here, the harder it's becoming to imbue an impression of awe. My average is going down not because the quality of the images are, but because I'm no longer awestruck like when I first arrived on the scene.

Sure they are, but during voting I'm not voting on Facebook images am I? If you get your uncle Jim and aunt Beatrice to start submitting the crap they do to Facebook, it will sway and affect how I, and some others, vote on the other entries.

If you're only looking at the score, the priorities are in the wrong place. A proper comparison between challenges would be to compare overall percentile placings. It's not only a better comparison, but a truer indication of quality regardless of the voter.

I guess my crying and whining helped! My score went from 5.3 TO 5.5 without the number of votes changing!

Everyone should've just gone up a little bit... Do you think we could start a trend here? C'mon guys, get the (nice) vote out!

Thought I might have a winner. 5.4 after 20 votes tells me otherwise :-(

So if everyone bumps their scores 1 or 2 point everyone is in the exact same possition.
I see the bar here set high because there are ALOT of images on this site so it's getting harder and harder to be original. So the people who have been around for a while have seen it many times before.
DP needs more new faces if you want do see better scores and when new faces do show up snapping at there opinions and being obnoxious is not the route that should be taken.

Thanks for the retort. If you think my ideas or points are dismissive, you're doing a fantastic job dismantling them.

It has nothing to do with intelligence. Point out the flaws in my post and I can be persuaded to change. Simply telling me to go away is both pointless and meaningless.

When I'm at "meh" or lower, I would gladly trade one full point of "score" for 10 constructive comments.

Perhaps I was bumped down as you bumped up. No worries at all :)

It's not about your post, it's about your attitude. Try being nice once in a while and NOT living in logic land... Ah, forget it. You appear not to have the emotional capacity to just be nice for no apparent reason.
