I can just imagine how many tooth fillings get lost. They probably have a bucket next to the stand specially for 'lost fillings' - the maple syrup ice pop things, I'm talking about

Yeah, it's taffy-like. For all the sweats my wife and daughters are always eating, they are all thin and fit with no cavities. I, despite eating few sweats, got a bunch of fillings in my youth, and have had an ongoing battle with my weight. >:-(

They have high metabolisms, I'm convinced. My father-in-law and brother-in-law are the same way.

Tonight I go for my first session with a personal trainer who is built like a brick house. I've battled all summer, dieting and playing tennis, to lose 60 pounds. Now that tennis is gone with the weather, I've joined a fitness club and have shelled out a fair bit of cash for a personal trainer to help me get rid of remnant flab and to tone up. I'm a little nervous, but I'm fully prepared to go all-in.

If you were willing to come down to the Danforth, and bring Skeene along, I could have kicked your asses into shape.

Heh, that would be awesome, but I needed a location I could work into my schedule. If Skeene out-did me on any weights I'd just get discouraged. ;-)

I was referring to their apparent propensity for chowing down on cotton-fleece garments — I don't believe any degree of elevated metabolism will account for that ...

Okay, first round.

I screwed up the top layer (yea, I abso-freakin-lutely cannot melt chocolate chips apparently) so I had to use a chocolate buttercream icing-- still very rich and sweet but probably not as "dark" as the original recipe called for.

Out of the 100 or so kids that sampled it today, only 4 didn't like it. Most came back to see if they could get seconds. My daughter's class LOVED it, and they were like trying to get thirds and fourths.

Did you pair it with a nice Oatmeal Stout? If you didn't, you should have.

96% should still get you an "A" — nice going!

Ewww, it needs the hard top so you can hold it. You would have had 100% success otherwise.

Someone must have really liked these maple syrup lollies.

i used an icing recipe that sets up pretty firm. not as hard as what was called for, but it was holdable. :)

and generale, no stout this time. maybe in 13 or 14 years they can pair those two things together. :P

Glad the kids liked it so much, Karma! Re melting chocolate...it has a VERY low melting point, if you're not careful it'll separate too much and seize up. Anyway sounds like it was a success apart from the weird kids who didn't like them :-)
