I don't see why it would need to be sanctioned by anybody. I looked over the rules of the site and nothing prevents anything like this from happening.
I asked about VENSERDOME when I was thinking about running it. Sent messages to Langdon and the SC, both were stayed mum so in my books that a green light. |

| MAK (or anyone else helping run this), are we going to pick teams or is it going to be random? At first I just figured it would be picked teams but the more I read through this, it seems like it's going to be a random draw as to who will be on your team? |

A bit of both. There'll be random assignment with consideration of your preferred teammates and preferred opponents.

Well I guess that makes sense. Kinda wish I knew who was going to participate before I did my entry or I'd look through and see who I would like to have on my team.
I vote we re-do the sign up sheet in a week and you give us a list of people who signed up previously. Or would that be too short of time to get everything situated? This would give us an idea who is going to be playing.
P.s. - Just a suggestion but I don't know the technical side of this so shoot me down if need be, I won't get hurt. ;) |

I know you're getting hit with suggestions -- and I'm extremely glad you're doing this, and I can live with whatever rules you write.
Just a thought though -- sometimes life gets in the way, and a person can't participate in a week. It can create hard feelings on a team and really make the teammate feel bad. I think it really is nice being able to drop the bottom one or two scores. (I think that's why people liked the teams of 7 vs 5, so that more scores counted, but that two could be dropped). If even one of your scores is a 0 in a week, it doesn't matter how high the rest of the team scores -- you're sunk for that week -- and everyone knows it's because that team member didn't get their entry in.
Just something to consider...

Awwww... does this need to be? Some people can't afford it. Both my kids have accounts here -- one has entered 84 challenges the other has only done a handful. But they both would have participated. But I don't have an extra $50 for them to play.

I think that registered users will be allowed participate. Afterall, we aren't making anything from this, so why should we insist that only paying members can play? Finalised rules will be drawn up over the next few days. I would imagine that being a member will have a benefit due to having a choice of which challenges you might enter. Again, nothing final here. Just my thoughts.

We are open for suggestions, if the coders are happy to open it up for all members then so be it.
With regard to people missing out 'the odd' challenge due to life, we are considering using a wild card system which MAY allow a team to up to 3 chances in a season to play a wildcard and a non participants score would be randomly used .. This is NOT set yet but would give a random chance, could be beneficial or not. The problem is when people sign up and dont bother entering at all as we have seen in the past.
We are working on it. |

I am going to be pretty busy for the next couple of months so I don't want to commit and harm a team.
Have you thought about a 'mid season' draft that people could sign up for if a team loses a member due to life situations and are unable to continue. This would allow a team to fill back up to full membership and put them on even terms. |

One of the reasons I killed my tournament was the infinite suggestions from people not willing to help.
Please, just let them get this off the ground and see how it runs. After that, fix the kinks. |

When the rules are finalised they will be posted for the world to see.
If, after reading them, anyone would like to pull out then we can do that.
We want to contest to be FAIR, FUN and to run smooth. We have had many many suggestions and we have taken them all onboard and are currently coding the system.
I can assure EVERYONE that every suggestion has been considered and, where possible, will be applied so we can all enjoy a stress free bit of fun. |
