Just looked at the challenge to see current submissions: 20 ATM.
This doesn't seem like it'll be a popular challenge.

I wasn't going to enter, and still am not sure.
However, I did find a quote that I would like to "try" shooting for.

However, it seems that I could almost shoot anything, and apply a quote to it. Kind of like the Beatles Challenge. And many others that Venser has been so kind to point out.
Sorry... thought I'd add you to another thread. Seems like you're quite popular 'round here now. :P

I'm known to be a little promiscuous.

For this challenge, shoot anything.
Title: Inconceivable.

Fat chick.
Title: There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world.

Ugly person/people.
Title: I've seen worse.

I have to admit that the challenge tells me nothing (... pardon my ignorance) and that I had to google to learn what is about. Add the frustration to be travelling in China where, believe it or not, searches related to Quotes from The Princess Bride refuse to display, then it's a pass from me...

If you have a photo of anything strange or bizarre, enter it with the title "INCONCEIVABLE!" and you're good to go. Seriously. Lotta strange stuff where you are :-)

I'm having a big problem with this one, simply because I want to stay true to the movie, which is probably quite simple. But that's how I voted the Beatles challenge, too. I wanted the image to have something to do with the song. I knew the songs too well to have the phrases or titles be completely opposite and still strike a chord.

Yet the quotes don't really lend themselves to very much...

I adore this movie -- one of the top 10 in my mind, but this one is definitely "challenging".

(I don't automatically give 1s and 2s for DNMC -- it's more that they get extra for hitting the song or movie)

I confess that I adore this movie as well. No time to enter, but I look forward to voting!

Hi Guys

Just joined the website, so first time response and submission.

I tried to think of idea's around the following four quotes:

1. "You ARE the Brute Squad!"

- Simple portrait of a scary looking man (tattoo'd maybe?)

2. "To the pain"

- Man taking a football to the nuts... holding his groin. Is this to comical and non-serious for this site?

3. "Life is pain!"

- This would have been my first choice, and to have a portrait of a man with his head burried in his hands, unsaturated, and much like the winner of the beatles competition. However, I couldn't do that because a) I only thought of it last night before final submissions, and b) I don't feel entirely comfortable photography people when they're miserable.

4. "Only MOSTLY dead.."

- A bit distasteful perhaps, but I almost went to a cemetary as the light was failing, and shot a dirty black semi-clentched glove (bare skin preferable though) coming out of the grass/soil on the grave, with the headstone slightly blurred in the background. Other than being a bit weird, I quite liked that idea.

...

Any thought's on those?

Shifty

If there's under 50 entries I'll shoot, edit, and submit in the last 15 minutes. Personally, I think this challenge topic is retarded, but I'll submit something just to fill the challenge with entries.

Saving my creative juices for the self portrait challenge.

Only that you shouldn't be posting a description of what you actually DID shoot, and that you should remove that part of your post, for reasons of voting anonymity.

If this was Expert there'd be a bunch of ROUS's, including one from me ;-) Love this movie but struggling to come up with anything for the challenge .

I was going to shoot for this challenge last night but didn't. Fake vampire blood does not look authentic enough for what I was going to do, so now I have to come up with a different idea if I enter.

oops... didn't know they were anonymous votes.

Memorable quotes for
The Princess Bride (1987)

Very good! That's the same site I used to select a quote. (I may be the only DPC member who has never seen the movie.) Must be a generational gap thing.

You're not the only one. I love movies, I work with videos, but it seems like that here in Italy it's not a very famous movie. But to fill this gap I watched it and searched for the right quote :)

I hadn't seen it until this weekend -- fortunately our local library system has about a dozen copies on DVD ...

I wouldn't feel bad, it's a terrible movie in my opinion. I really don't understand how it's achieved its cult like status.

c'mon- corny and campy, but..terrible? name some comedies that you liked so we can get a reference point.

I started to watch it a couple of years ago for the first time. Didn't make it through to the end.
Problem with the quotes is that most of them are context-dependent. Not funny or interesting on their own, imo. Not like say, Marx Bros quotes. But then who are ya gonna believe, me or your own eyes.

Not really one to watch movies, but The Princess Bride was forced upon me.
For comedies, I really like Arrested Development, Archer, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, South Park, Futurama.

I'm gonna believe what I always believe...my hopeless pair of rose colored glasses...;-P

Long live Buttercup & Westley! :-)

Anyways, I anticipate this challenge will improve my ability to vote on shoehorns.

Good luck to those who enter!

I never saw the movie either. My husband was shocked when I told him that last night. Apparently he's even watched it while I was in the room, and I never even noticed. :)
