I just submitted my shot for the 'hope' challenge, and I'm already anxious to see how well, or poorly I did. Any other first timers feeling the bugs?

My first submission was 2months back and now I have submitted to 7 challenges and hoping for 8th with Hope challenge.
the first submission is alway exciting, but for me I think I have been updating more frequently these days than I did for my first challenge :D

I remember how nervous I was with my first entry but I was also very excited. It takes a lot of nerves to post your work out there for the DPC community to see and critique. You took a big first step by submitting to a challenge, congratulations! It's lots of fun to take pictures but to submit them is a whole new world. I wish you luck and enjoy DPC as many others already do.

Probably because you became a member only recently and so _can_ update even more :) ?

Are you HOPEing to do well?

Good luck on your entry. The jitters wear off after a while.

I hope you do well. I submitted my first photo in the Vanishing Point challenge last week. And I have to agree it will make you nervous. I did not do well compared to others with my average vote. Sometimes not doing well in your first challenge may not be a bad thing. The comments from other users will help me improve. I know I have room to improve and would rather start out with an slightly below average score on my first challenge that win a ribbon and go down from there. Well maybe not that extreme, a ribbon would be nice the first time

Best of luck Joe, I 'lurked' around the forums for a while before I submitted my first shot (still my lowest score) its a big step and congratulations for making it. You will have big highs and lows by submitting and each of them will help you learn more.

Looking forward to seeing your pics :)

welcome magic'! hope you enjoy the challenges. once you start, don't expect to be able to stop :P

I zoomed around the site for a bit, voting and watching before submitting first... that was 2 years ago (lol)

Welcome,

I submitted my first in the Vanishing Point and did okay. I knew what the problem was (not the topic, but an unavoidable object in my picture)when I submitted it, but still wanted feedback (all feedback pretty much confirmed my suspicions). Now my neon challenge...well lets just suffice to say "It sucks" LOL. But, I knew that I would really struggle with this topic. I am sooooo looking forward to the "Hope" challenge. This is a great learning experience!

Wishing you well...

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive. I have a few pics floating around the forum if anyone cares to search and observe my portraiture.

I actually commented on every picture in a challenge to test the waters before I even took a shot for a challenge. Remember that you learn by commenting and check out what others have done.

This is my first challenge too. I'm looking forward to seeing what others did for this HOPE challenge. It always amazes me the creativity of people through their photos.

Welcome to the addiction, may you never be the same. :D

I have entered several (though not as often as I would like), and I still get a bit anxious to see how well it is going to convey to the general public.

Hopefully I will get time this weekend to implement the ideas I have for the Nude II and Hope challenges -- and that I don't chicken out of them.

Good luck to the first timers (and the rest of you as well).
