Well, here I go, off to shoot for my first "real life" photo contest.

One of our local camera shops is sponsoring the "24 Hours of Halifax Photography Contest" which starts today at noon. Participants have 24 hours to shoot an image that represents an aspect of living in Halifax. Winning submissions will be part of a 2006 calendar, the sales of which will benefit the Children's Trust Fun. Shots will also be on exhibit for the gneral public where they can view and requests copies. Cool. There is also a draw for $5000 worth of professional grade Fuji and Sigma photo equipment.

This is going to be some challenge. It's overcast today, will most likely rain and my choice of glass is limited since I just sold my Tamron 100-300 lens. I'm left with Canon 18-55 kit lens, and old Canon 28-80 lens and my Canon 50mm f 2.5 macro. I think I will mostly be shooting with this last one since it's the best I have right now.

Told my wife that I was gone for the day and would probably only return several hours after sunset. This is going to be my first full day photo excursion.

That's it. I'll keep you posted of results and may ask you to assist in final selection.

Later.

I participated in our city's 'Day in the Life' photo contest last October, and had a blast doing it. It's a great way to spend a day, and afterwards you have the competition results to look forward to. I documented my effort here and here. I can't wait for the contest to roll around again this year.

Enjoy it and good luck!

Well, the weather was crappy and my mood was crappy, so I didn't get a real good shot.

This is the best I could produce and I'll be submitting it knowing full well that it isn't my best work.
