Another good reason not to buy a full-frame camera!

But lets see, top 10, the Rebel Rules.

1. Rebel XT (350)
2. Rebel XT (350)
3. Nikon D90
4. Rebel 300D
5. Nikon D80
6. Nikon D7000
7. Rebel XT (350)
8. Rebel XT (350)
9. Rebel XT (350)
10. Rebel XT (350)

When I switched to Nikon, I got a ribbon with my first entry (on the D80), and it's been downhill since then!

I have, however, managed a ribbon with each of my cameras, including the Canon S1 IS (3mp!), Panny TZ3, Panny LX5, and Canon G2 (4MP). Not yet with my new RX100 but I've only just begun with it!

Sorry you're frustrated, Jere2201. Forget about the scores for a while and just take some time to learn your new camera and have some fun shooting. Keep working at it and things will come around.

Thank you markwiley

I think that's the real theme here, just keep trying, and improvement will come.

Jere2201 - try participating in some of the side challenges, where you can get honest feedback from others without the stress of a score. There are a lot of great photographers on the site who just happen to be great people too. Congratulations on your new camera. I hope it gives you many hours of enjoyment. The wonderful thing about dpc and photography is that neither rely on sound - one of the places you have a truly level playing field (except that you're going up against folks with multiple decades of experience and you are just learning).
Trust me, even the greatest photographers shoot "sucky" pictures from time to time. Some more frequently than others.

So here are my avg based on body

Canon Rebel XS: 5.5819
Canon 60D: 5.8259
Canon 5dmkii: 6.1573

clearly better gear makes me a better photographer :)

I was pretty unhappy with my scores after moving from the Fuji prosumer camera to the Canon T1i (and now to the 60D), but I finally figured out that there was a pretty big difference between the Fuji and Canon in depth of field - the Fuji was very forgiving, while the Canon was not. Took a while to adjust and take the new capability into consideration while shooting.

By PB (by far) was shot with a D70 that was in its dotage even back when the shot was taken. Scorewise, I doubt I'll ever beat that one. The rest of my top 10 is evenly divided between the D70 and D300.

I suck worse than you, since I haven't taken anything yet with the D800 that was even worthy of entering in a challenge.

In all seriousness, though, it takes time to learn how to use a new camera, especially if it's significantly more advanced than the last one. You will suck for awhile, while you're learning how to control the thing.
