Seems like no one can agree where to post my useless threads, like this one. Am I a Rant guy or a General Discussion guy?

I think we should create a Bamaster Forum that everyone can turn off in their preferences. I'll have a grand ol' time replying to my own threads.

All those in favor say Aye!

- Aye!

You could keep posting the totally off topic stuff to the 'rant' forum and also anything else where you feel you are venting. The jokes/ links to videos etc would also do well in the Rant forum so people can ignore them.

If you want to post about new hardware you've bought, I'd suggest the 'hardware' forum and so on....

And certainly 'challenge suggestions' is entirely the wrong place for this too. at least you are being consistent.

Well, myself and a couple of others on the site are HUGE hockey fans...Drew, can we have a hockey forum (that people can turn off, of course) so we can talk about hockey...actually make it two: Hockey General and Maple Leafs Hockey.

Thanks ;)

Oops! I just realized I put it in the wrong forums. hehe My bad. I don't know, no where have I read other than from a select few that posts on the homepage should only be photography related. I get many emails from people that tell me they like my posts.

But why would people want to ignore anyone's posts, other than the fact they are negative (ranting would be bascially bitching).

Personally, I'm bored with threads about challenge expalaination, congrats, and hardware talk that apply to a small percentage of the users (since few people have a certain camera). At least the off-topic threads are slightly refreshing.

But to make the purists feel better I will only misbehave in the Rant Forum.

Because it is a photography web site. If I wanted to read jokes, or get links to videos, I'd probably go to a web site about that. At least putting them somewhere that can be ignored means people can ignore them and talk about the things that most people come to this site for (which is bitching and moaning as far as I can tell these days)

That is the most winning idea I have ever heard Zadore. Infact, Drew mabey we we can raise some funds to promote DPChallenge and the new Go Leafs Go forum during the Superbowl. I think having a Leafs forum will help DPchallenge surpass Ebay and CNN.com in Visitors.

Go Leafs Go.

I know you REALLY meant to suggest three hockey forums: (1) Canucks Hockey; (2) Canadian teams who aren't doing so well; (3) Foreign hockey.

:-)

Now Jak,

I'm really happy that the Vancouver Canucks are doing well right now. But the people of Vancouver must realize that all the Canucks are, is a training ground for future Toronto Maple Leaf players, so there is no reason for a Canucks Hockey forum. We are almost ready to take Bertuzzi and Nastlund from you, are they ready yet?

I think many people appreciate my efforts at doing something different, which is difficult for those who cannot think outside the box I know. Clicking on my threads is a choice you make. And I also think it's silly for you to speak for the many members here and to say that my video links are unwanted.

I give up. I have done my best to spread my good spirits on this board. I'll just stick to bitching that I'm getting beat up in comments.

This is a site about photography, yes, but the Forums are about community. There are forums setup for different aspects of photography on this site, and the General Discussion is NOT one of them. If you want to propose to optionally turn off the General Discussion forum, that is another matter.

You asked why people wanted you to post in the correct forums. I explained why. It was not a personal attack. It might be construed as a request to stay on topic or post on the correct places though.

Why dont you post wherever and whenever you like , Bam. I read your stuff and it always makes me feel better. You know the phrase " There but by the grace of God go I" Har har har
01/16/2003 06:36:05 PM · #16
Hey Bam,

I don't think you should stop, I find your stuff amusing. No need to get all huffy and puffy. People in this thread are just having fun, just like what you do.

Or are you the only one who is allowed to? :)

But seriously, I think Zadore's suggestion about the Toronto Maple Leafs forum is a valid one. It will improve the world. We can help so many people.

I think this and the root of it are both a little out of line. Consider this a warning please.

I find Bamaster's stuff amusing in general. Makes me laugh most of the time. I don't mind the fact that some of his stuff is off topic. I certainly appreciated his link to Ninjai.

My only suggestion: Post your off topic stuff in Rant.
01/16/2003 08:30:32 PM · #19
i agree with gordon, but i don't care what you do...why don't you just have one thread that you use to put all of your "funny" stuff in so that people who want to look at it will and people the don't want to can just avoid the certain thread. i get annoyed sometimes when i see 4 different threads started by you in an hour's time occasionally...it's just a waste

Well, John Setzler, your opinion of my comments/jokes means nothing to me. If you are in a position to warn me about something (I guess you're speaking for the Site Council) then you should do so in private messages and not in a public forum. I have yet to hear of some official ruling that non-photography postings must be in Rants and not General Discussion. Until then, I'll post wherever I feel my post is appropriate.

Now how did this topic go astray?
01/16/2003 08:37:00 PM · #21
dude you need to chill...i'm pretty sure john can speak for the site council when he says that...you are just getting too bent out of shape because you aren't getting the reaction you thought you would

and another thing, you are full of crap when you tell him when and where he should say something, when in the same breath you say you will say whatever whenever and wherever you want

Huh? Not sure what reaction you think I'm looking for. There are countless other postings that take this site too seriously. Just check the Rants. Trust me, I never get bent out of shape over Internet things. This post was a joke, as was my reply to Morgan. I was trying to make things less serious... unsuccessfully.

i know it was a joke, so why are you mad? you aren't laughing, you're taking offense, and escalating things
