With a touch screen, what's the method for making drop-downs work? If you put your finger down, doesn't it open the link instead of the drop down?

I ask only because I haven't been able to figure it out on my Android browser, and have basically given up accessing DPC via the phone.

Try this
1. Tap and hold the menu title. The dropdown menu will appear.
2. While still holding down the finger, move it AWAY from the menu title (otherwise it will count as a menu title click - which compared to the IOS6 is still an achievement).
3. Lift the finger. The dropdown menu will remain dropped down, allowing you to tap on the menu items.
Sounds more complicated than it is. Just do a good zoom-in before you try :).

As much as I can see, the DPC menus are handled by some Javascripts. Not surprising with javascript execution, the results are unpredictable on a mobile browser. Android seems to require gymnastic skills, while on the iPhone, prior to upgrading my 4S to IOS6, the menus were activated by tapping the menu item - the menu would then appear in the top left corner. Ugly, but it worked. After the upgrade, the menus are gone, independent of the browser you use (I've tried Safari and Chrome, to be honest).

I'm reading these days about issues with AJAX applications (applications that use HTML, Javascript and CSS) and specifically problems with the IOS6 javascript engine. This could be the reason for our trouble. Which means, unfortunately, that we must wait for a SW update.

A bit wonky, but it does work, despite my phone trying to select the menu title text. I wasn't doing step 2 before.

That can happen too, tap&drag usually means select. But it's a text selection, it won't do any weird stuff. In time you will learn in which direction to "escape" the menu title :).
Basically, this whole choreography is needed to artificially create a "hover" event on a touch device (that would be equal to bringing the mouse pointer over a certain region on the page/screen, on a regular computer).

I don't know if it's my imagination, but I feel the touch screen is much less responsive since I loaded iOS6. I don't know if it's app problems or what, but there are times in Zite, for example, when I seemingly can't get an article open until I've mashed my finger on the title for the fifth time. Other apps seem to do the same thing. It's sporadic though.

Apple keeps changing the way they handle drop down menus. Previous fixes should still work (ex. using jquery's event.preventdefault() to disable the natural behavior of the links and then redefining them based on touch events). However, this is only needed for sites that use outdated coding methods for navigation. It's no surprise DPC would be affected. Has anyone looked under the hood to see the markup, css and scripts it uses for the menu system? I'm guessing Fred Flintstone built that.

Puffin free browser. There is a mouse simulator which allows you to "mouseover" a menu link without tapping it.

Sorry, might not have been clear, those were the workaround for android.

Come on...fix this thing. Also you can fix the Safari uploaded. Why are you blowing offApple users?

to be fair to DPC it's not necessarily a simple fix, it may require a complete ground up rewrite of the menu system javascripts which is only a problem for a very small amount of people accessing a small amount of the site. Most people will access the site on a pc or mac, those that access on an apple device will probably only access their score, portfolio, forums all of which work.

The Safari upload works fine on iOS6 on iphone 4s, 5 and ipad 2 from my own tests (you have to enable location access as that allows safari access to your images

Do you mean Apple users; or mobile/Tab/Pad users?

I'm an Apple user and satisfied with how things are. It could have been convenient on a couple of occasions to upload pic's with an iPad. But not to the extent that it would be worth rewriting the site.

I deleted my previous post as it was not really valid (I just did the update) and managed to upload a photo from my ipad without a problem. I typed the web address in manually and then bookmarked the portfolio page to ensure I have easy access in the future.

I agree it's annoying that the menus to do not work, but the workaround is quite OK for me

You can only upload from safari in iOS 6.

If you don't update use opera browser and choose the old upload option
