hmmm... because the "easy way out" involved hours of shielding the camera from raindrops while I scouted out cool angles of interesting neon signs (as I, HEAVEN FORBID, interpreted the challenge) and dodged drunk a-holes who wanted to be in my pretty picture.

maybe i wasn't as creative as you, but it doesn't make mine any less of an entry... and it CERTAINLY fits the challenge.

i've had it with this challenge, and i've had it with closed-minded people who can't openly interpret the challenges and their verbage. i'm sick of this "my way or the highway" attitude... judge photos on the photos, not on whether or not the photo fits the challenge in only the way you interpreted it.

Seems a bit harsh although I agree with the sentiment. I think a better way to put it would be "be more open to other interpretations of the challenge description."

I can't believe no one submitted a photo of a Dodge Neon!!! I was one hour too late, not realizing the Eastern time zone on the server for submission!!!

I expected quite a few a those, my husband made the suggestion right after the challenge was posted. That's why I skipped it.

AAARRRRGGGHHH!!! This is like marriage - whatever you do is wrong and misunderstood!!

I have a pic of a neon sign that fills the frame, there are some other subtle elements that add interest to the pic (can't go into details without telling you which pic it is). This morning I got up to a comment that reads "no open signs".

I took the no 'Open' signs as meaning literally the word 'open' (due to the fact that these are by far the easiest to find). Additionally, I took the directive as a request and NOT a reason to discount an entry (although no marks would be given for creativity).

So, people are marking down for neon signs, and others are marking down for non-literal neon pics. This is very annoying, inperpretation of challenges is clearly an issue that needs to be addressed - there is a lot of bad feeling being caused by people spending more time on the meanind of the text rather than the essence of a good pic.

I view challenges as if a certain MD from a past company had set them, if he would have asked for a bridge then he bloody well wanted a pic of a bridge, if he wanted a pic of neon, but specified 'not an open sign' then he would get a pic of neon and the word 'neon' would not appear.

I'd rather you DQ'd the ones that are literal reps, even if that's 50% than to allow them and later on DQ the same type of picture just because it's the only one like it in the challenge.

CONSISTENCY. Isn't that what SC preaches? It will not be consistent to fail to DQ just because people didn't read the rules. It's in the rules and its meaning should be clarified so that everyone understands its meaning.

You even have a lawyer. Get her to clarify it.
