It's a Smith Victor A120 12" Ultra Cool Light with a cheapo 6' stand and a clip-on diffuser. Also bought two 500W bulbs, woulda bought one but the sales clerk was a cutie! Total cost, $150.

Get ready for the soft porn!! Err... I mean, get ready for quality photos of produce.

Bring on the soft porn. Looks like a great buy. I should get one or two, instead of the shop lights I've been using.

I bought the stuff from a local shop called Houston Camera Exchange. They have tons of stuff, new and used. If I were to do it the least expensive way, I'd get it online. Like I paid $83 + tax for the light unit, but I could get it for $67 from Adorama.

The stand/diffuser/bulbs are all prett yclose in price. But man does that diffuser make a difference!

My next buy will be some really good filters. Haven't decided which ones yet.

I can just imagine someone out of shot being interrogated with this light beaming down on them (LOL). Just my weird imagination! Congrats on your new purchase.

You guys DO understand that there are minors reading these threads who are members...some even site councils :)

...and again, this is a rant not 'general discussion'....geez

Blah. The General Discussion Forum is under the Other Section, NOT the Photography Section. And my post isn't a Rant at all. If you feel my threads need to be moderated, contact the site owners. And what exactly is the point about minors? There are countless photos of boobs and pubic hair here. I think they can handle my posts.

Thanks for bumping this. I want all the minors to see that I'm going to post soft pron.

I didn't want to start a new thread and make someone angry but I bought something today too. I finally bought a Macro lens for the ol'D30 woo hoo! Get ready for soft porn macro shots! Nice light by the way.

Those same minors can also hook on PhotoSIG and see all of it they want. Many online sites allow nudes.

I think bamaster was just making a joke any how.

By the way, nice lights. Great investment. Should be fun to use...

Uh oh. I'm going to call my congressman about the high-res areola pics I can expect from you. For shame! :p

i don't get it .. i bought an uplighter for 15 bucks and point it at the subject .. works great .. oh now i am lying .. i don't use lights or do indoor photos ..
but seriously .. is this Bamasters forum .. i wanted to reply to that thread but THEY closed it .. and only after funny thing about 100 people replied to it winging it was in the wrong thread .. and hence posted in the wrong topicy thread themselves.

So in keeping with this discussion, i looked at what Bammy bought (thought i'd give you a name of affection there) and the light really doesn't interest me.
What I want to see is that .. cutie he bought it from .. i mean lets getthe real story here.
