Close enough to my suggestion. Posting inspiration momentarily.

Take a look through these members portfolios. When I think of interesting long exposures without landscapes, these are the people I think of.

I would think that long exposure without landscapes is not limited to blur, coz it wouldn't be any different than a blur or an abstract with moving subject/camera challenge otherwise. All the examples shown here demonstrate blur.

Any other thoughts?

You are exactly right, and the winner will likely not be very blurry. I was just posting personal preference shots and members. Light painting would work well as well as other shots.

I was actually thinking along the lines of a light painting too

ghosts, double exposures, light painting, blur, lots of options to choose from

I did a band album cover in an old industrial
Oven in an old factory on Saturday 15 second exposure with flash on multi doing strobe would have been ace for this

:(

Have to have a think :)

Spent the longest I ever have on a challenge for moon and it's barely a 5, go back to shoe horns ;) hehe

Would such an image suit this challenge.. I guess a cityscape is different from a landscape:-)

I'll love to see the *creative* long exposure images in this challenge, a lot more than the over-blurry wtf happy snaps.

I think you'd get a fair number of DNMC votes.

For sure. Cityscape = a form of landscape in many peoples' eyes.

This reminded me of Weston's pepper taken in candle light with very long exposure. Voters might give it a very short exposure, though :)... without any "evidence" of meeting the challenge.

Btw speaking of blur, I wish iPhone camera apps were allowed.

What if wasn't a wide shot but a zoom in on a shell on a beach right near the water line? + long exposure = blurry water to display the use of shutter speed

Not macro but yet not landscape? I'm just thinking outloud. Pondering... When does a citiscape turn into an urban landscape that wouldn't be entirely suitable for the challenge.

Not a big fan of the whole blurry or abstract photography myself. It just looks like I tied my camera to my dogs tail and let him go.

Anyway, whats the definition of a long exposure? Anything above 5 seconds? 20 - 30 second exposure?

I try for "longer than normal for the given condition/situation" ... Last time I just showed people how long the exposure was.
09/03/2012 11:03:57 PM · #22
for most situations, to me, it would mean a shot that was not hand-holdable...
