I bought an iMac to be sure to be free of viruses and/or malwares and now I have something quite similar:

All started with ads that I could see on the bottom of the images here on DPC. I thought of a new (horrible) feature of the site, but I was wrong. This happened with other photo forums - the ads appeared on the bottom of the images.

Another annoying thing is that on some words there's a link (double green line).

Is it a malware? Have you experienced something similar?

I've not seen anything like that here. Macs are not virus/malware immune, and as they become more popular, they have become a more tempting target for hackers.

That's why I can't find any help on the net. I couldn't find anything similar to my problem...

Can you post a screen capture?

The double lines under images are IntelliTXT type links that are added via a script that runs on the page.

//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IntelliTXT

Use something like adblock to get rid of them.

But I would not think they would be on DPC images.

Now it seems that everything disappeared... but I don't know why... weird!

If tomorrow it happens again, I'll post a screenshot. That's what I was about to do, but now I have no problems at all. Not sure if it's ok, but tomorrow I'll check it.

I highly recommend you consider installing an antivirus package, such as the free Sophos for Mac, and doing a full system scan. OSX viruses and other malware are definitely on the rise, and it makes sense to be proactive here.

It might have been that you were not logged into DPC.
Try logging out , are those the same adds you saw ?
Then log back in.

Cheers

I guess it was a sort of Extension of Google Chrome because I disabled it and now it works. In any case I'm downloading the antivirus :)

Thank you!

ale my man remember that macs usually get viruses and malware from things that require the system password to work... don't install those crappy antivirus programs as they just eat up system memory!!!

Wrong! The system memory regulates itself well enough and most run small enough to never notice
GO to the App Store and get ClamXav. Run it on a schedule. Updates virus definitions. Been running it for years and never encountered any problems.

Probably you're right.

This morning I can't see the ads anymore, but when I opened Google Chrome I found this:

Copyrighted_Image_Reuse_Prohibited_1028640.png

I'm not sure if it's its fault, but the my Internet connection is not running properly.

Any ideas on how I can uninstall it?
