Anyone want to fill a deaf bear in on what's so funny? I spent 8 years of my life trying to win an Olympic berth in sailing, so it all looked pretty thrilling to me...

It has to do with the stunningly idiotic commentary. The guy posing as the expert has no clue and gets everything backwards while insulting any and all, assuming his lack of a clue is stupidity on the part of everyone else. Not the best bit for the hard of hearing Robert. But I got a good chuckle out of it, especially before it went far enough to realize it was satire.
