I have always liked this sight. I have learned alot and hope to continue. I don't "know" alot of people, but that is my fault. One thing I would REALLY like to see is for the top 3 or more winners in a challenge explain in steps and as simple as possible, how they edited their pictures.I think it would generate more positave photography talk.I know that you can talk about anything here and that is great, but I think if it were more about photography it would be more interesting.I would love to learn from some experts that might have a process that I might be able to learn. The discussion "Post a Photo - Get a Comment" is another great way to generate more photography help.

maybe if we had more interesting challenges :P, the high-key soft focus actually excited me for the first time in a while, so im actually entering that one.

Just a thought. You can usually make any Challenge interesting by entering an interesting picture.
I suppose that's why it's called a "Challenge."

the current trend of vastly broad topics hasn't inspired me to enter or vote. activity level is down on DPC, mine is, just saying why.

Do you need operate within the full spectrum of possibilities afforded by the challenge description? No.
If you desire a narrower definition for your own image, couldn't you simply add your own restrictions? Take for example High Key Blur:

Use soft focus & high key to create an interesting photograph. Title with the first line of your favorite poem or song. Voters guess the song or poem.

OK, if that's too broad for you, simply say, "I'm only going to use my 50mm lens and only take photographs of my pet weasel, Freddy."
Bam! You've successfully narrowed the challenge description all by yourself. You're a genius.

Just sayin'

LOL! I defy ANYONE to find an interactive website where somebody doesn't try to rain on everyone's parade. This site rocks, I'm here for the photography, and the awesome camaraderie. I love the excuse it provides to just go out and shoot when I'm not in the mood. No, DPC is NOT dying, so stop hanging the crepe. It's just passing a kidney stone.

This site does ROCK! And with all the good, decent, WORLD WIDE folks I have met here, I wouldn't leave if you paid me. It does motivate me as well to go take photos and to have FUN at it! Besides all that, I have a personal investment in maintaining the cohesive relationship with my fellow Long Shots. The advice and companionship is priceless.

Narrowing the scope of a challenge description for yourself is a valid and effective suggestion for anyone if they feel the posted description for a challenge is too broad. You just seemed to focus on that so I offered you a solution. If you're too upset to accept it, that's your problem.

nah, just tired of your shit lately. you have been a constant in many of threads that have turned into arguments, you seem to have no problem throwing a jab that escalates the arguments and tried to do it yet again.

but like i said it doesn't matter, as my time here is nearing an end.

I do get tired of incessant whining.

Your posts are starting to read like those "pity party/righteous indignation" threads people start when they say they're leaving, but really just want everyone to beg them not to go.

options for this broken thread are:
1. Lock it
2. hide all OT comments (basically the last exchanges between Spork99 and mike_311 and then the responses to that) and let the thread limp along until it's own natural demise.

You guys choose.

There have been plenty who have tried to quell the bickering in this thread but to no avail, I'm with Bear send it to the archives.

I agree.

I'll be ignoring general discussion from now on. It will be much more peaceful not having to deal with certain asshats.

Who said I was leaving? Just letting my membership run out. My displeasure is with the site. You just happen to be a minor annoyance.
