Oh Richard! You have been in my thoughts since I learned of your plight, and now this! How devastating to have to contend with another loss. I wish you better days ahead.

I hope that there comes beauty from ashes.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Richard.

I cannot imagine...

Richard, I hadn't opened this thread till tonight. My condolences to you and your family for the loss of your home and friend, but I am happy read that you and your family are safe.

Jeez Richard, losing your home was bad enough, but the loss of Maggie is just unfair. Know that when life comes back into balance, you will be due a great deal of good luck.

So sorry to hear of the piling on of bad luck Richard. Just terrible.

Here is a post I put in a different thread but it applies here also so this is a copy paste of it
Here is a series of shots I took near Telluride which is about 30 miles, as the crow flies, from a large wildfire in Mancos Colorado. I realize they may look "overcooked" in HDR but they're actually pretty close to how it looked in reality. The smoke was so thick and the strange orange and gold hue to everything was almost surreal.

The way the sun reflected through the smoke onto the surface of the creek was absolutely crazy looking.

I tried to accurately depict how it looked that day as the sun set through the trees. The yellow stripe is actually the sun unfiltered by the trees as it fell on the vegitation. It was a really cool thing to see. BTW these were all taken at almost 11,000 feet in elevation.

This is probably my favorite shot from that day

Awe, so sorry again to here about another huge loss for you with Maggie gone now too Richard. That is really tough. I truly hope better times come back to you quickly.

May you and your family gain strength in community. Glad to hear you are safe but so sorry for the loss of a friend and a home. I'm thinking good things happen, too, when you least expect them.... you're certainly in my thoughts.

Richard, hopefully things will turn around soon. We have friends and family in Colorado who have lost their homes as well. This is truly a more massive disaster than many understand it to be.

Our hearts, prayers, and support are with you all in these dark hours.

Richard, truly sorry you had to deal with this tragedy ... then losing your dog on top of that too, just too much for anybody to take. Wish you and your family a quick recovery from all of this.

Oh dear, I only just read this thread. Richard, hang tough. I'm sending you truckloads of supportive thoughts.

You must be incredibly strong for the Universe to pile so much on your plate. I know it isn't of much comfort now, but this too shall pass.

So sorry for all of your losses.

For those interested, here are some amazing post-fire photos. It is so strange the way the fires must move. Almost like the tornado aftermath photos that you sometimes see.

Our thoughts are with you. Please let us know what would be the most helpful things we at DPC can do for you right now.

Beyond a vague and nagging worry that some of our members might have been caught up in this latest catastrophe, I had not thought too much about the Colorado fires until I opened this thread just now.

I am so sorry that you and your wife have lost your home and your dog, Maggie, as well.

What a horrendous time you are enduring. I wish you well in recovering from this ordeal.
