Jaded_Housewife, good to see you back. I see spiritualspatula is also in this thread. Tate's back and if he chimes in we could almost field an Imagenation team again right now!

Of course my entry is down too (and I was Sooooo pleased with it) but hope springs eternal, as they say.

Yeeeah, i don't think you want me back on team Imagenation just yet. I'm beyond rusty it seems.

Sorry to hear you are self=DQing. I would love to see what you've entered.
No, Chrystal, you could never lose your touch.
I just think of this one:

which finished 62/553 in a difficult Challenge a while back,
and realize what an artist you are.

This Challenge is all over the map on scoring. So don't be discouraged with the results of this one.
No, don't.

Self DQ is the most insane thing you can do here. Scores and averages don't matter.

Hi all, long time no see! It's been five years since I posted anything here or entered anything but thought it was about time I found out if I have improved and so thought it's time for me to get back into DPC. This is my first new challenge, a rush job to enter but seem to be going ok...

You should be seeing a bit more of me from now on :)

I was preparing to vote and thought, "These aren't what I think foreground Bokehs are supposed to look like" - so I stopped before I cast a single vote and did more reseach so I could better understand. I feel far more prepared now - and far more appreciative of the images that I'm seeing. I'm wondering if some of the other voters, like me, had a preconceived idea of what it was supposed to be.

Grateful for the expanded perception and looking forward to voting when I get home this afternoon.

Welcome back Ian.

(I just had a look at your profile and noticed where you live- relatively close to me which is always nice to see on DPC- and had a look at your blog. Some excellent stuff there. I love Mummers Plays and Urbex. The Welshampton fire festival looks fantastic. And to top it all off you wrote a post on Hakim Bey's 'T.A.Z. - a great little book i'm very fond of. Wow, this Ian dude is pretty cool i thought to myself!)

Im assuming the entries involving the bokeh of lights will score the highest coz generally bokeh tends to be associated with light sources that appear like blurred discs.

Really?? I think you could look at the same site Knikki did too :)

Upon looking through the entries, it's apparent I don't know the difference between bokeh and a narrow field of focus.

I have no clue....

Lol! I only say that coz my entry has nothing to do with bokeh of lights and is obviously not finding favor with the voters.. Then again, maybe its just a crappy picture! :-D

Ironic considering you're someone who constantly harps about their score and calls anyone who gives a negative vote a twit, tard, drunkard or some other derogatory term.

I've used twit before yes. The others are your imagination.

And this is not about a single score from a twit... this is about the scores here not mattering in the grand scheme of things. Yes, if I take a 6+ photo and it scores low, I'm naturally going to complain about it -- normal.

However in the end, even though the photo was wrongly scored, it's still the score it received by the fickle folks of DPC. Self DQ because I'm getting lowballed would never enter my mind because it accomplishes nothing.

Please pay attention before responding.

As for scores, still hanging just below 5.6 after a wave of bad votes yesterday.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if you "take a 6+ photo and it scores low", then it wasn't a 6+ photo, was it?

Isn't that how this works here at DPC.....it's a 6+ shot when the voting's over and you have a 6+ final score, right?

Yup, but bokeh isn't just the circles of confusion. Bokeh is basically the aesthetic quality of the blur.

I think my image is suffering because my bokeh is not lights. However, it might be that my blur is not very aesthetic. I like the image, but the blur could be prettier.

after 100 votes my score dropped significantly. Anybody else?

It looks like the first 99 voters liked it and the latest 9 voters hated it.
