Okay....so, here is is, Monday morning, and this guy's put a third ribbon up on the front page.

I hate him.....

I have the same camera he does, and seeing his work just makes me want to give mine to a homeless guy and say, "Good luck!".

So I want to rally together others who feel the same way.......

So put up the image of his for the DPC world that makes you hate him most.

I hate him so much for his uncanny skill and abilities I couldn't narrow it down to one.......dammit!

Pretty darn amazing thing to be that good.

(Way to go, Jonathon, though I'll never say it out loud!)

I am trying to talk him into putting together a Blurb book with his photos. I'll be the first to buy a copy! It is nice to see a thinking DPCer with a very consistent style.

Where's his image that most makes you want to give up photography and become a gardener?

No posting without the pic!

I've never heard of him or seen any of his snap shots. Actually, that's not true. This is probably my favorite

This is my favorite photo from him... Or should I say that this is the photo that makes me "hate" him...? ;P

What more is there to say, the man is just fantastic. He shoots what he loves and it definitely comes through in his work. He's simply amazing.

I've always loved this one:

edit:
And I'm patiently waiting for an "In The Style Of Jagar" challenge.

A non-challenge favourite of his of mine (of mine of his?) (do either make sense?).

I'm gonna get a d7000 soon... will that make me as good as he is!? :-)

Congratulations, John. It's quite an achievement to have a contract taken out on your head around here.

I went trolling through his portfolio & this whimsical shot is what came up on my line.

Is this grounds to take my D7000 back to the shop?

That's just what we need to show us all exactly how HARD it is to do stuff like John does... He's one-of-a-kind.

It's a great topic this jagar one, but I object to the hate connotation.
I cannot say that I wish I had taken photos like him. (I adore to spend time in that part of the world though!). I just appreciate them so much and that's their true purpose.

For a while I thought that it's the French connection, John's subjects and geographical place that is tilting the balance so much when it comes to general agreement on the merit of his pictures.
And then, I saw these, far away from "la douce France", just to point to some of them:
or or or or - other places, other habits, same affectionate eye.

It's the way he filters life - and I have to insert this:
His pictures accompany some of the most solid French writing, a Jean Giono's work for instance - even the title of his books (Que ma joie demeure, Le bonheur fou, Les ames fortes, Le chant du monde ...)
Like a true convert, his vision on France is one of the most accurate and persuasive depiction of the spirit of the place.
I wish that he'll publish a book.
En avant John!

Try to take his photo... I think jagar does that to win ribbons!

this makes me want to quit. how the hell did he do this and why haven't I done it?

But most of the time, John does not make me want to quit. When he goes out of his safety zone, he is an inspiration to me to shoot more.

Oh god, an "in the style of Jagar" challenge would be AMAZING!!

Too funny, I just logged in and the first thing I saw was his name on the front page and it made me so happy, and then I saw this thread, ha.

I completely agree with this:

...I get emotional viewing his work sometimes. It just affects something inside of me, I don't even have the words for it.

i do have a "i hate jagear" tshirt somewhere buts it in reference to the drink not the man hehe, and dont worry it was ironic after 6 weeks touring with a punk band in europe and having a bottle a night with the lead singer, i was a walking bar big bottle in one combat short pocket, glasses and ice in the other :) dishing it out to local crew back stage hehe
