I took these images of Salvation Mountain early last year, and have only now gotten around to organizing them into a video story.

I didn't know that place - bizarre!

As a videomaker, if I can give you an advice, the captions are too fast and sometimes too long. Not easy to read everything before they disappear and the viewer risks to be too concentrated on captions and less on tasting the images.

My two cents :)

Thanks guys! Alessandro, I was concerned about that. Also, it being my first attempt, I'm not sure I got all the settings right. Youtube apparently does something to the quality of the video which degrades the sharpness of the images. I also uploaded it to Flickr, but they truncated it by half, so I removed it.

@ Alessandro, I used a freeware program (name eludes me at the moment), and I published it before checking the settings. I just used the defaults. It's actually quite an extraordinary little program, and very intuitive, considering I got these results straight out of the box.

@ Bear - this was during my visit with Deb, and Leonard was either not in or was in hiding during our visit.

Salton Sea is in inexplicable place. It just fascinates me to no end.

Hey Johanna, nice stuff! I love making videos myself, I hope you don't mind one nitpick, I would uppload them in high def, 240p is the scorge of YouTube imo, I wish they would not allow it, it does not do your shots justice. Although not neccesarily always the best for all videos, let me know if you ever want to use my Animoto account, it costs me $250 a year and I never get my moneys worth out of it.

I had no idea when I edited this yesterday that he is not well. I received this update just this morning:

In December of 2011, Mr. Knight was placed in a long-term care facility in El Cajon for dementia. Concern has been raised for the future of the site, which requires constant maintenance due to the harsh surrounding environment. Many visitors bring paint to donate to the project, and a group of volunteers have been working to protect and maintain the site.
