I can't wait to see how high the score of the ribbon winner is, I'm sure you are all shying away. Was on 6.32 2 days ago, but have dropped to a lousy 6.19....still shouldn't complain hey!

Try following a blue ribbon with an elaborate entry you think is a contender and have it dredge the bottom as your personal worst. That'll crush your sprit like a bug.

Is anyone voting in this challenge, I know it's kind of boring, but I've only had 3 votes in the past 24 hrs?
I'm sure e.one else is the same right?

53 votes.

50 votes so far..

Well it has steadied out and like a hot air balloon it is starting to rise....until of course, someone comes with a pin to pop it. I know terribly pessimistic, but it does happen - so I will just enjoy the rise while I can:-) With luck it will be in the top 25%. Some really lovely work in the bunch.

Hehe, I know that feeling. It is rare when I get geeked up at the announcement of a challenge because I know exactly what I want to do, then capture that image just as I saw it in my mind. Submit knowing that it had all the elements to do well and......5.5.
I have no problem getting a much worse score with an image I know is not in step with the aesthetic here, or ones that are on some level provocative or offensive, but to submit an image you are sure is right down the middle and end up getting a "Meh" is pretty dispiriting.

+101

I knew on posting this was my ribbon winner.. It cannot even hold a 6.

A reminder: You should not discuss specific images or even a class of images during voting. If you say "Images of XXX don't meet the challenge IMHO" the possible effect at this point is to influence voting, which is against the rules.

We should save discussion of the images, and groups of images until AFTER the challenge. In fact, we don't do enough of that. It's great in the image comments themselves, but it would be good to see a discussion AFTER each challenge ends.

I don't think discussing "classes" of images is disallowed.

We get numerous complaints about this and we've (SC) discussed this and posted reminders before. When you discuss a class of images, you are singling out entries...just multiple ones. Either as good or bad, it can influence voting, and we've agreed to discourage and or remove such posts. We prefer that we don't have to watch the threads and would prefer that people just are sensitive to the "keep an open mind to other interpretations of the challenge topic." rule and keep their own interpretations to themselves during the voting stage so as not to influence others.

We have discussed clarifying the written rules as well, but there is always room for interpretation...they will never be complete or air tight.

My apologies... I did not realize you were a member of the SC. :) My bad.
