so, I downloaded iCab Mobile, but still cannot get to a page where I can upload. The tabs along top, such as the Home tab that you hover over with a mouse on the computer, do not drop down options. If I click the button it simply reloads the home page.
Also, what is this "classic upload"? Guess I won't see it if I cannot get to a page to upload from.

I've entered 4 or 5 challenges from my iPad while traveling! The photos (taken in smaller size jpg) went through snap seed or similar and I could upload them regardless of their size. I guess this site does some resizing ... As the files weren't really big anyways, I couldn't notice any loss of quality!
I had also stored some pictures on my iPad, that had gone through lightroom on my computer before and were saved for web. In that case I had no way of knowing the exif data, other than remembering how I shot the photo.
Even uploading it to some other photo site and looking up the exif didn't work (of course) as these data were deleted by the "save for web" process. In the last challenge I filled in guesses and that worked, too! Not sure if that would be a reason for a disqualification ... Probably it is better to leave the iso, f/.. and shutter numbers with the picture.
Anyways I was very pleased to be able to participate in challenges with just the iPad! By the way, I just used safari and the upload button - worked wonderfully!

!

I don't get this, how can the site do the re-sizing I thought we had to get it right before we uploaded it...an error message always comes up if the file is larger than 300kb!

Anita, if you upload directly to a challenge then that is true, however, if you upload to your workshop first and then use that version for the challenge entry, the site resizes the image (at least this is how I believe it works).

The only thing I cannot seem to do is get to my workshop on my iPad now. Not using Safari or iCab. Can someone enlighten me?

I know what you mean I can't as well. And another problem why does it upload it upside down, lol!

It's ok I tried again and it wasn't upside down, that was kind of weird!

I agree, it's not so simple to get to your workshop, it took a few steps (unless I missed something obvious). The way I did it was to navigate to my user profile, click view portfolio, then in the bottom left there's a link to manage portfolio, from there I was able to click workshop and upload. I saved this as a bookmark so I don't have to go through it each time I want to upload. I wasn't able to find a quicker way (it's a pity the menus don't work with iOS 6, or rather it's a pity there isn't a mobile version of DPC), but once I'd figured this out, it was really fast.

You don't need to go via workshop! just do the upload directly into the challenge! It will ask you if you want to use an existing photo or take one (with the iPad camera)! Choose existing and you'll get into the iPhoto file system to choose!

I can't remember when I discovered this but this is how I have been entering challenges for the last couple of months. We're i have had issues in the uploading from my ipad or iPhone is with a resized image that is just a bit bigger than the file size allowed. When it comes to an image that is huge, dpc seems to resize it to fit.

To be honest, when i discovered this i basically stopped using my 30d and photoshop all together. Of course my scores suffered, but I don't much care about that a whole lot anymore.

So can we actually submit photo's taken with an ipad as well? I was just referring to photos submitted from an ipad but originally taken via camera?

You can do both. Whether it was edited on an iPad, from a regular camera, or taken with an iPad, it is legit as long as it meets the rest of the rules. BTW the standard Safari browser included with the iPad will now upload images. The iPad des record EXIF data in its images so it is legal for competition. Same with the iPhone.

Regarding uploading from an iPhone, I did it while in Newfoundland for a couple of weeks. I had my laptop which is not 3G/4G capable, so I would sync the photo(s) I wanted to upload with the iPhone through iTunes. I had no problem uploading from the iPhone to DPC and then entering challenges. Not sure if I used the classic uploader or not... I'd have to try it again and see exactly how I did it but it can be done. Hope this helps -

Edited to add --- I think this may have been how I did it:

I was responding to these two posts - perhaps I should've quoted them - my apologies. :)

You can't do it from an iPhone I believe, just the iPad.
