I don't consider my images ART. I'm just a average Joe with a camera. I kind of stepped out of my comfort zone in this one. Pretty happy with the score so far.

I still like it. My Macro score is much higher but if I was going to spend time looking at an image for any length of time it would be the Art one. Not terribly original or breaking any ground in the art sense but I like to look at it. Score be darned! |

Scott, nothing wrong with trying new things. Maybe not the same thing over and over if you're not getting the results you want. Who knows you might discover something you can apply to "what you do best." Just my 2 cents. |

| I made the mistake of interpreting this challenge as showing of something different, something I would showcase on my wall. My misinterpretation is what I am paying for in score. Darn!!! |

Don't think that. I, personally, love the "different". But my vote doesn't count too much, not when there's hundreds of other voters. lol.
But I'm looking forward to seeing all the entries. When I got up, my score was a 3.95. Hasn't changed as far as I know (haven't looked). But I like my photo, it's something that is memorable, and it's something that IS hanging in my home. So that's all that matters to me. The score, not so much. :)

The most important thing in this challenge is to have used what you thought was your most artistic photo, as art is ambiguous by nature it's normal for the scores to be all over the place in this one, we all end up winners i think. I'm not even sure that it's a good idea to have a juried vote, it's like giving solidity to something with none.

I chose the photo which was the furthest from anything I've ever done prior to that photo. It's my version of artistic. The voters not so much.
Looking at the entries I get the feeling this is simply a Second best photo of 2011 study. There's nothing wrong with that. Just don't complain about scores and voting when every voter should be using their interpretation of what art is when looking at you image.

Once again proving that "Art" is a subjective category - or maybe a sleigh ride.
Mine went from a 6 to a 4.75 in four votes early on.
Now? All the way back up to a 5.15! |

I wouldn't be so sure on that. I'm under 4 after 20 votes. Brutal but like you, I like the photo.

Sitting at a 4.2 now. Rose a little after just a couple of votes.
It's going to be interesting to see what comes out of this challenge. But like a previous person said, we are all winners.
That is, if you entered something that YOU found artistic, rather than something that would just "appeal to the voters".
