someone is offering me this new un-open lens for $80. I checked amazon and other store there the price is over $110. The question I have is with the built, photo quality and price, is it a good deal? I saw many photographs in Equipments - Lens Categories and they are really good but still want to have second opinion!!!!

It's a steal and the best bang for the buck on a Canon lens that you will ever get. Grab it while you can. All photographers should have a 50mm in their kit.

The build is plastic, but the image quality is extremely good for the price. Just take care of it and treat it gently and you'll have a great lens that won't break the bank.

Yup, good deal. If you don't own a 50mm prime, this is where you start.

Yes.

It can be very sharp -

I'd say go for it.

I really like it, but I am on my second one- it is truly flimsy.

Yep, my wife got me one and she paid more than that for it.

I needed to buy another one and printed out the sheet from B&H, $103.00; and happened to be at best buy, where they wanted $130.00 - they gave it to me for $103.00; happy with best buy for doing that.

When I purchased my Canon 50mm f/1.8 II back in 2006 from B&H, it's regular price was $69. Since then that lens has went up dramatically in price to what you see now. If you can get it for $80 and its new or used in great condition...jump on it!

I wish I would not of had to sell my lenses.
