Hello all,

I've been lucky enough to make the final of RedGate Software's DBA In Space competition, which aims to put a chosen Database professional into SPACE!
So I'd be most appreciative of any votes you might want to give me as a fellow DPCer. The place to go is www.dbainspace.com.

The background image on my photo is from this entry:

if I win I promise to submit an entry I photograph from up there, and see how long it takes to get asked for proof...

Thank you!
Jim

Done, but this is the correct link for the finalists and you might want to let people know which one you are. :)

You read the thread title wrong, that's Ast-ro-naut.
Been there, voted, returned. I hope you win.
If you do, it would be nice if we could all have an autographed image of our home planet from up there.
I see that we can vote daily, so I'm putting this thread on the "watch" list.

That would help, but he is the only Jim on that page.

I voted for you and will vote again. Good luck.

Awesome, thanks all!
Yep it might not be obvious so as Karen pointed out, I'm Jim Thurston.

Cheers!

What I'd like to know is... If you submit a photo taken from space, what date/time are you supposed to set your camera to?

I think the rules need to be clarified. Perhaps a 'Photographs not taken on Earth' section?

Ha! One for Langdon...

You know what, it's not going to be so very long that this becomes a reality. If it's not me then I reckon someone on DPC will manage to take a photo from space in the next 10 years or so...even if from a high altitude balloon, or something. I guess realistically you'd have to be in orbit before this becomes a problem, but that's not impossible... I look forward to when this becomes a real discussion point!

That's an awesome opportunity, fingers crossed for you (voted)... I guess we also know who'll be getting the blue in the free study that month if you win =).

Voted! Best of luck!

I think, for validation, purposes, you will need to keep setting the time to what ever time zone you are currently orbiting over. That should not be too much trouble; you'll only need to reset your clock about once every three minutes and 45 seconds, LOL. ;-)
